metaldave, are you booking this, do you know who is? i need a contact, wicked. btw, GORATORY would be a perfect headliner for this. drop me a line please, odiumvile@hotmail.com

[Jul 10,2005 4:06pm - metaldave  ""]
No, I'm not booking it, I'm not sure who is.

However, rumor has it that bands being considered as a headliner so far include Beyond the Embrace, Suicide Dream, and Fates Warning. But, if there's enough clamor on rttp for other candidates, whoever's in charge might catch wind of it and consider those bands as well, after all a LOT of people in the metal scene check in here from time to time.

[Jul 10,2005 4:57pm - BSV  ""]
ugh, they could do better than that! I don't know how well this can do, it's 2 months away and apparently nothing is booked.
 ____________________________________
[Jul 10,2005 5:20pm - metaldave  ""]
Don't know about that, if they're booking bands over the next couple weeks, seems to me that would still leave another two months after that to promote the show. Any one of those rumored possible headliners would draw very well in CT given that much time to promote, not counting what fourteen support bands would bring in on top of that.

But hey, if you don't like those bands, suggest your own headliners, that's what this thread is for! (The bands I mentioned are only rumors anyway, I could be totally wrong)

but if beyond the embrace, suicide dream or fates warning are the headliners, consider the fest far from a success.

OK, all the bands suggested above are really good, but I think there needs to be a reality check here.

If the "rumored" headliners are truly being considered, those are bands that can easily draw a few hundred people in CT. But the bands being suggested here would draw AT MOST 40 - 50 people (and that's being generous).

If the person/people booking this thing were to catch wind of this thread and listen to our suggestions, they would have to be crazy to take that kind of trade off. Despite the fact that the ctmetalfest page makes the guy sound like he's in it for the music (very cheap tickets, no metalcore), renting out such a big venue requires a headliner that can really draw if the show is to just break even.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick, just being realistic.

they must only be able to that in CT, cus if they played anywhere else in new england they wouldnt draw shit.

Leukorrhea would love to do this show but it falls into the time frame that Ron will be in Europe with Vital Remains... Unless we get asked to do it than we could possibly find a fill in! Thanks BSV for the vote though!

And I agree with that squirrely guy to an extent... Out of the "rumored" headliner list above Fate's Warning would draw the most, I don't see Beyond The Embrace putting them over the top to pay the venue off.

They said no Metalcore!

FATES WARNING might draw, I dunno... Can SUICIDE DREAM draw 20 people? I, and Dean, of Dean's Home Furniture fame, doubt it.

These bands are all in the NE 1/4 of the country and would be bad ass:

NUNSLAUGHTER
RAVEN
INCANTATION
GOREAPHOBIA
WATCHMAKER
DECEMBER WOLVES
BLOODSTORM
MAUSOLEUM
PENTAGRAM
ABAZAGORATH
TOXIC HOLOCAUST
CROWNED IN SEMEN
RAMMER (Canada, but not too far)
HIRUDINEA
ABHORRED
KEVORKIAN'S ANGELS
WITCH TOMB
NOOSEBOMB
ADOLF SATAN
VILLAINS
UNEARTHLY TRANCE
GRAND BELIAL'S KEY
etc. etc. etc.

we're dealing with CT here too. not many people in this state give a flying fuck about anything. dont set your draw expectations too high or you can get fucked and disapointed. the idea is good but by witholding info on whos booking etc, and listening to the bloated claims of how many people a certain nu-metal band that sings will draw isnt gonna make for a good time. now lets be realistic, you say the venue is large, how large can it be? its in windham. so whos this magical figure that is booking this who might "catch wind?" of this thread?

why is everyone here dissing suicide dream. they are frikkin awsome. they opened for posion in front of like 1000 people. and you think they can only draw 20 people. your just insane or somthing. i think this thing is going to be really big.

I have been to this venue before, it's a good spot, and the sound there is awesome. I don't know if there's ever been a "festival" there before, but it's a good place for one because there are a couple different ways to set things up. The shows I've gone to have used the smaller set up which holds roughly 300 people, but the Pavilion also opens up to a huge field that could probably hold another couple thousand people and their cars.

Personally, being from CT myself, I'm inclined to agree that this state sucks and people here don't give a fuck, so I think the smaller set up is much more realistic. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

Does anyone have contact info for whoever's booking this yet?

partially true, but somewhat exaggerated. beyond the embrace got their big break opening for opeth at the palladium and have played there since, which gives them a foothold in northeast ct, but i'd say with good promotion they could bring in 100 - 150 people tops. i don't understand why there being called nu-metal by the way, they have clean parts, harmonies, solos. nu-metal is just talentless noise, korn and all things descendant.

suicide dream did not open for poison it was bret michaels, but the 1000 people figure is true, according to their bio anyway. they've also opened for a shitload of other nationals at the webster in recent months (entombed, overkill, crowbar), and no one does that at the webser unless they sell a ton of tickets each time. based on that i'd guess sd could bring in a hundred people or more, considering this is in their back yard.

fates warning has been an established prog metal band for years, plus they're from ct originally. but, it's always hard to say how many people will come out prog metal bands, even when they're well known. fates has potential to draw the most people (200 - 300), but in a way they're also the biggest risk because older fans are unreliable, and a lot of younger fans won't know who they are.

this will probably come down to who asks for how much money.
