Recently GRAVESIDESERVICE had to go before a judge in warwick Rhode island following charges of Satanism and other related offenses. They were all acquitted of all charges and are now focusing on their next release "Popes Pears", which is a concept album based on the church and the Inquisition. they now have a permanent guitarist and bass player as well. There sound having been influenced heavily by only TRUE black metal acts such as Early Root, early Masters Hammer, early Mercyful Fate, Early Arcturus, Havohej, and much classical; They have now drifted in a more eerie atmosphere in the likes of Xasthur, Abruptum, Archgoat, Beherit, with a dash of Mozart, Wagner, Franz Liszt, and lets not forget the first truly satanic band to ever emerge in the 60's Coven (completely ripped off by BlackSabbath, even the guitist real name from Coven is Oz Osbourn and they released Witchcraft way before Blacksabbaths first release, not to mention Covens first song was called Blacksabbath). So Keep an ear out for more from this obscure band, they also released a true actual live recording of a last rites ritual in a Cranston Rhode Island Cemetery. I saw this band once grave side service, I was dissappointed because the vocalist wasnt holding a beer and pointing at it repeatedly throughout the entire show. He was actually focused on getting a message across, it sucked completely. Next time if these guys dont go on stage all drunk and stupid and pointing at their beers repeatedly I am leaving. I think we need more beer pointing at these shows, more vomit and beer pointing with slurred vocals, sloppy drumming and more dissonance coming from the piano and guitar players. The same goes for anyone else ignorant enough to talk shit and plays in a rip off local fuck band that sounds just like everyone else, at least these guys enjoy what they play and dont flier the town with stupid bumper sticks and upcoming show papers that noone pays any attention to. I gotta give it to these guys for doing what they like even if I dont like the music they are great people aside from the music. I talked with the vocalist and he was down to earth really cool smart guy with nothing bad to say about any of the local acts or anything. The other guys were the same with great personalities playing for self enjoyment and not to impress with flashy riffs and everything. I am more of a fan of early 80s stuff like venom and bathory, but these guys are pretty cool and different for Rhode Islanders. Just keep your negative comments to yourself this is why music fails in America everybody hates everyone else, not like in the early 80s back in my time, you liked what you like and everyone got together for a good time. I am 46 now and miss it all. I got out of black metal around 96 when it wasnt the same, to many bands and ripoffs and nonsense. Metal wasnt designed to drift in the direction it crashed into today. Not the same. But back to these guys, dont talk junk they are cool people and trying to do what comes natural to them. Theres alot of good local acts that are completely different and fresh but noone likes them or gives them a chance because they only like what sounds exactly like their own band and thats not cool man. Bottom line, if you dont like dont speak and move on. yours an old metal man if you have something negative to say to that you are just being childish |
