_____________________________________ [Jan 5,2007 8:39pm - the_reverend ""] weird... like everyone smoke the chibba. ignite the will: I was walking in and I thought their was just a CD on, but in fact it was this band. The sound was pretty quiet. I could have almost stood around with no earplugs on. They sounded sort of like since the flood. When I got in the entire place was a gigantic rainbow of people. Obviously, some moshing had been going on. There was a little bit during the rest of their set, but mostly, it just ended with Will (dysentery) having a dumb fight with 18 people. mammon machine, the: they took along time to set up. Especially when it's only 2 dudes and some electronic gear. The mix was pretty bad. Aaron's vocals were 90% inhales so he had to have the mic cranked. This caused a lot of feedback during their set. The guitar also seemed to change volumes a lot and wasn't nearly loud enough. That's basically all the negative stuff I could think of. Now, the samples were awesome. Some of them reminded me of the ambient stuff that in dire need is doing (newest CD). Aaron's vocals went from inhales to screams easily and quickly. The inhales reminded me of the pitch-shifted gore-grind I've seen at the past few MDF, but he wasn't pitch shifted at all. The guitar riffs on the other hand reminded me of some of the best riffs that deicide had pulled out over the years. I think once these guys get a drummer set for live shows, they are going to be loved by people who like porphyria and in dire need. |
_____________________________________ [Jan 5,2007 8:41pm - the_reverend ""] this is revenge: I thought CSL was playing, but I was just some of their members. this band ruled. Not much of a chance for the mosh to be brought, but it was more like the hardcore music that the hope conspiracy or modern life is war does. They are going to have a new song on myspace next week. Can't wait. Dysentery: I had no clue that spaldino was playing with them again. Wow. He was all big and spaldino-y. Their set was pretty damn sloppy. It sounded good, I mean, it's dysentery. They have a super sweet sound to them, but it all sort of blended together. They even played one song into part of another that they had already played from a different song.. People moved for them and Will called everyone faggots. |
______________________________________ [Jan 5,2007 9:08pm - thorn n vine ""] Honor the Fallen ruled their first show. YeeHaw! |
_____________________________________ [Jan 5,2007 9:22pm - the_reverend ""] I missed them and I think shallow water grave. traffic, work, and stuff. as I look around this place, I can't help but think "what is myspace doing now that 1/2 it's people are at a show?" betrayed by all: awesome to see these dudes outside of brockton. This time they had people dancing for them. Frankie still called everyone faggots, but they did in fact move quite a bit. Sean seemed a bit frustrated... All the people were dancing way back and he had no one to kick but the air as he ran back and forth while playing. they lay it down nice and old school... like early madball... please never think adding rapping is a good idea. it's not. shot down sun: they had some technical issues and took a while to set up/get going. The only thing bad about their set besides that was the fact they played a song called leprosy. That's a sacred title! Their second song was the song they have a video for "l'm not dead". Much like you've heard people say, their music is very JFAC-ish. It really sounds good, but very JFAC. They used to have a lot more of the BDM melodic carcass stuff, but it seemed not anymore. There was only one part of one song that I heard it in. People moshed, girls and gay dude struck poses at the front, and there was plenty of people (ctb and nick) singing along. |
______________________________________ [Jan 5,2007 9:45pm - thorn n vine ""] I should have stuck around, but there was no beer or whiskey and I was like the oldest person there. |
_____________________________________ [Jan 5,2007 9:47pm - the_reverend ""] I would give you a run for you money age-wise. neon hookers, the: what an awesome band. This type of hardcore music is really my favorite now a days. Like outbreak, coa, the limit. like all those bands, their set was way too short. The singer had a diatribe bashing ms and people who worry about trivial things (just say it *sniff- like rttp pictures!). watching people 2-step for them is awesome too. bands like this are the modern day embodiment of what the originators of punk-hardcore were trying to do. ther set ended on a down note as a drug enforcement squad was on the way or something. people weren't allowed out side. Dudes, smoke them now if you got them. I hear there are cavity searches on the way out. Joy! I'm not really sure if that happened, but I figure I should type it so if I am killed, someone came piece together my last few minutes of life from my review and erie dreams. Possibly figuring out hat happened to me and who my killer is. I'm going to guess it was cornel mustard in the study with a wrench. |
