| _________________________________ [Mar 5,2005 1:05pm - powerkok ""] had a good time last night. to kill the sunrise were so very very young, yet they played some mature, nasty metal....good band. throwing shrapnel....for some reason, I think I missed alot of their set, unless they just played a short set, but they sounded good, and different than alot of other bands. shrouds 2nd guitarist ices the cake of bereavement. awesome as usual, dan and kelly mesh like pb+j. we played new stuff, did a tribute to dime, and had a good set. LAZ as usual piss me off with their modesty and act like they arent some of the best musicians in new england. but they are and I know they know it!!!! We called that kid either being punched or thrown out b4 the first band, and whattya know!?!? punched and busted open b4 the first band was done!! I am real suprised they let him stay after that, but I think he was one of Marks work buddies, and serj is cool with Mark I geuss. Ya, alot of mofos came out to this....I was very pleased with the turnout....looks like it was worth it after all, skinless or not. \m/ |

Here's my summary: To Kill the Sunrise: I wish I could play that well when I was that age. Cool set with some neat timing/tempo changes. Some kid had a seizure during their set -- weird. Throwing Shrapnel: Excellent grinding fun. I liked the crazy arrangements these guys put together. Just wished their set was a little longer. 2 guys had a brawl during their set -- me and Mike broke it up. One kid was bleeding everywhere. Neat. Shroud: Very heavy thick sound with the addition of the second guitar. It made the doom and depression so overwhelming I almost killed myself. Great fucking set. HCN: The best I've heard yet. Completely dig the new material. Very, very tight set -- completely fired me up to play next. LAZ: Aaaahhh, we fucked up one song, but replayed it later in the set. Actually muddled through our new one that we weren't gonna play. I don't think I played as well as I could have, but we had fun. Thanks to everyone who showed up and to the bands that played. I kind of put this thing together and was glad to see a good turnout. |
