The golf joke is in the book idiot.

Indeed. Never liked the fact it was. Takes the fantasy element out of it for me.

Here's the deal. The Hobbit is a short children's novel. It's a couple of hundred pages that could be read in it's entirety in less time than going to the movie. The part of the movie that is the Hobbit was decent. Maybe even as good as the Lord of the Rings. I'm sure once the others are released, if you were to edit out most of the non-essential fluff and total fabrications you would end up with a concise single movie that could stand up to the Lord of the Rings. It's not like I didn't enjoy the movie, but it wasn't great, and was barely good. I wanted more.

I don't see how it stands up against Lotr when the filmmaking was half-assed and rushed and the script was awful.

The reason why people are comparing them is because Jackson asks for it by trying to tie them in together. The filmmaking was MUCH better on the Lotr movies.

It was less gimmicky that's for sure. The CGI was just as annoying though. Especially if you're a douche who has the extended dvd where they do 50 fly-overs of the same dated video game Gondor.

dont give a fuck about anybodies opinion man.....gonna get stoned and such and watch a matinee showing tomorrow. Then I may bitch about it. Hobbit cartoon movie still kicks ass in my opinion, as I saw that shit on TV in the 70's.

Pretty much agree with everyone here about the disappointment, but i'd like to add that I found the recycling of music from the LotR movies not only horribly uninspiring, but also just plain inappropriate and downright distracting.

The story is about a god damn treasure hunt, there's no reason to be using the same dramatic music that they used for saving the world.

LOL THORIN IS ABOUT TO FIGHT A COMPOSITE CHARACTER ORC, BETTER USE THE SAME MUSIC WE HAD GOING WHEN FRODO ENTERED MOUNT DOOM.

The best part about the movie was the fact it successfully portrayed Thorin as the douchebag that he is, which is apparently not the popular opinion on his character.

I thought the soundtrack was awesome, yet not has memorable as the LoTR soundtrack. Howard Shore can do no wrong, IMO. I'd gladly walk through Howard's Shores unless it was red tide.

I think it should be said, however, that the reoccurring musical themes shall also be used at tying the LOtR movies in with the Hobbit. The opening theme is one of the most somber, yet epic pieces he has written. He was the man for the job, though; I don't see John William's style meshing well with it, or anyone else for that matter.

Spence is... right? Sounds crazy but it's true. The score seemed like it was almost entirely leftover LOTR score.

i have to agree with this^^

BUTTTTT the music is so emotion inducing for me I loved hearing it. it was one of the only nostalgic parts of this movie for me, honestly.

-Warg/rabbit scene was putrid
-mountain trolls sitting around fire scene was executed awfully
-every time the camera showed Thorin, it was slowed down and, as xmikex said, Dwarfy McDreamy
-goblins looked like shit as CGI
-voice acting was awful
-"That'll do it." Is one of the worst one liners in the history of film making
-I'm convinced that the world already ended on December 14th, at midnight, when this movie premiered.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
