__________________________________ [Oct 14,2004 8:32pm - succubus ""] BLOODY RAIN WILL FALL ON SELECT SLAYER TOUR DATES Slayer's "Wall of Blood" To Create Gory Downpour "Still Reigning" DVD Has a Confirmed November 2 Release Date For years, artists have looked to create exciting and innovative stage designs for their fans - thrash/punk/metal gods SLAYER will push that concept right over the edge this fall with an effect dubbed the "Wall of Blood." Slayer's Wall of Blood will make its North American debut when the band headlines the Jagermeister Music Tour, set to kick off October 29 in Springfield, MO (full itinerary below). At select shows (determined by each venue's technical specs) during Slayer's classic song "Raining Blood," the band, their instruments, and the stage will be drenched by a downpour of "blood." The "Wall of Blood" will rain more than 150 litres of theatrical blood over an area measuring from 32-feet to 40-feet wide (determined by the size of the venue’s stage), 25-feet high, and six-feet deep. The device is a dedicated truss and sprinkler system that utilizes a unique pump technology, and was designed exclusively for Slayer by UK-based Hangman Productions. Slayer used the "raining blood" effect last July in Augusta, ME while filming their brand-new DVD, "Still Reigning." The Dean Karr-directed DVD opens with the the band's 1986, 28-minute benchmark album "Reign In Blood" performed live in its entirety by Slayer's original line-up - Tom Araya (vocals, bass), guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer Dave Lombardo, who permanently rejoined the band in 2003. "Still Reigning" also offers bonus material including live performances of Slayer classics such as "War Ensemble," "Hallowed Point," "Necrophobic," "Mandatory Suicide," "Spill The Blood," "Hell Awaits," and "South of Heaven," as well as exclusive interviews and backstage footage. "Still Reigning" has a running time of more than 80-minutes and a confirmed November 2, 2004 release date. SLAYER was named the "Best Live Band Ever" in Revolver magazine, and "Best Band" in that magazine's 2004 Readers' Poll. In addition, Slayer's video, "Bloodline," was just named "#1 Best Metal Video of the New Millennium (So Far)" by viewers of MTV2's "Headbangers Ball" and readers of Revolver. Slayer’s “Wall of Blood” will be in effect at as many venues on the Fall Jagermeister Music Tour as possible; the confirmed “bloodbath” cities/venues will be announced shortly, and you can always log onto to Slayer’s website – slayer.net – for updates. ______________________________________ [Nov 14,2004 3:58am - the_reverend ""] q: I ran in during their set. they didn't sound too bad, but I was a little hurried snapping pictures before their set was over. I guess they are from springfield... though I've never heard of them as far as I know. the singer's contacts were messing with me... I kept thinking that my flash was messing up, but it was the contacts. jager freaks: the lizard man came out and put a pair of sissors through his nose... then put a drill in his nose. finally, he throat flossed with a condom, twice! mastodon: their set was awesome. mostly cause the new stuff (which I'm still not really sure of on the cd) sounds awesome live. it takes a bit of the "hatfield" edge out of the vocals. they definitely looked like they were having fun. I think that they were odd man out with the other two bands, but the crowd reacted really really well to them. jager freaks: the lizard dooder lifted up a jager fridge with carribeaners clipped to his ears.. then some other guy lifted up jager bottles with his eye sockets. kill switch engage: I was running around and barry (the KSE tour manager) gave me a pass to shoot them, yeah! so I get down there and KSE starts off. it was basically the same set they always do. I still have when darkness falls stuck in my head. At the end of the set, adam jumed into the crowd while playing once.. which didn't work too well, so he jumped a second time. I guess they are looking for pictures for their upcoming DVD. you might just be seeing some of the ones from carina(http://www.defyunlearn.com/photos.php?date=2004-11-13 ) on that platter. jager freaks: I think the lizard man was getting himself out of a straight jacket, but I was busy. slayer: for those of you who I didn't talk to, I was denied a photopass to slayer. I was miffed, but there was nothing I could do about it. carina and I went to the balcony and stood where I always stand to watch slayer. Carina and I started to click a few shots to show bruce bettis some shots from our cameras with no flash. then Joy came over to tell Carina and I that Sylvia (http://www.returntothepit.com/pics/2004/nov132004/lollipop_2033.JPG ) was looking for me. Sylvia had gotten a photo-pass for me for slayer! So I was able to go into the photo pit with everyone for the last 3 songs of slayer. The photo pit was full of people and there was basically always someone in front of you... I appologize to all the people I accidentally elbowed. The lighting wasn't that great.. and there was no flash allowed. for the last song, they started to play raining blood. I'm not sure if the blood wall was messed up or not. I noticed that tommy stood back a few times like the rain "should" start, but it didnt until the last minute of the set. and then like the songs name, the best way to descrip what was going on was a red rain of blood. I must admit, I was expecting a torrent wall of red. still looked cool, but I think that most people couldn't see it AND it wasn't as big as the hype. |

________________________________________________ [Nov 14,2004 4:41am - mark fucking richards ""] here's how my night at the slayer show, and after, went... first off, the merch was way too fucking expensive. that was a disappointment since there was some cool shit and i would have gone broke buying anything. q: terrible. i guess you could say they played their style well, but it was awful, the antics were gay as shit and they did not belong on this show. mastodon: after missing them 4 times, i finally got to see them, and it was awesome. their sound was great tonight. kse: only seen em a million times, but i always enjoy seeing them again. slayer...ohhhh the almighty slayer... I HAD TO FUCKING LEAVE JUST AS THEY STARTED!!!!!!!!! AAAAAARRRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Most disappointing moment of the year for me. My girlfriend called me just as slayer started saying her back was in immense pain (she has degenerate disc disease, a herniated disc and disc protrusion in her lower back), so i hauled ass to her house and to the nearest hospital, and sat there for 4 fucking hours. then we had to get her medication at walgreens, but we couldn't find her i.d. or debit card, so we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off for another hour. i just got home, and i hate life. fuck all of you, baaaaaaah |
_________________________________________ [Nov 14,2004 10:22am - Josh_hates_you ""] q- as mark said i guess they played their style well. their style sucks. the singer broke the no fat chicks in belly shirts rule. about 30 people out of over 1000 aplauded. everyone else flipped em off booed and didnt even bob their heads. no energy on stage. didnt belong on the show. mastodon - just as awesome as always. my 4th time seeing them. they always play well and sound great but they did look lke they had alot of fun last nite. kse - sounded like kse. less humor than usual. adam ran around stage like a queer running away from a bee. lots of mall rats there for killswitch. slayer - fucking slayer. what else can i say. i was about 40 feet from the stage and i could not see the wall of blood. i could tell they where slighty wet/red at the end but that was it. 30 t shirts are ass. should have been lots of free jager. |

Just so happens i'm $38 poorer. I missed Q, Mastodon we're perfect, KSE were a lot of fun, and slayer was..well...slayer. I was bumming because a security guard saw me sneaking a couple picture before we were allowed to shoot and he took my battery for all of slayers set. but thanks a TON to carina for lending me what had to have been a 4 million doller camera. I don't think any blood got on it ;) I kind of liked how subtle the "wall of blood" was, but it was over hyped. If they hadn't said anything about it people would have been more psyched to see it happen. anyway, working on my photos now. I'm prolly going to upload them to the lollipop site later today.. |

Killswitch was also amazing, I touched the guitarist's head, and shit, I was right near the front. I can't get a clear view of me in any of the pics though. Slayer was completely amazing, It was only my second time seeing them, I was 10 feet away from them, It was the best night ever. The blood rain just topped off everything. They played a killer set, and I got one of the guitar picks Kerry King threw out!! Totally Awesome.. When I was leaving the show on main street, this guy was with his window down was like "How was Slayer?", and i was like "fuck yeahhh!", then he said "They fucking suck!", so I said "FUCKK YOUU!!" and flipped him off. It was a great night, and Im glad we could all make it happen. Nice pics by the way. |
