b) let's say the sox do make their decisions within 2 weeks and 'they may not tell anybody'....then that means that we still wont see in 2 weeks, will we?
c) lets say curt's surgery is more serious than expected and he can't pitch next year, will he still be gone from the team?
d) i find it very unlikely that the sox get rid of manny.
e) i have no idea what they're gonna do w/ cabrera, pedro or d-lowe, and i wouldnt be surprised if those 3 were gone. However, i don't think that they're gonna strip the whole team like the marlins did just because they won one world series. Boston is a baseball city that needs a competitive lineup to compete with the Yankees and the fans wouldn't stand for it.

josh you seriously just made no fucking sense at all. steinbrenner pays that much money for his players TO WIN/EARN the championship. you're making it sound like he's going to the MLB officials and saying "yo, i'll give u each $500 million each if you just give us the championship right now." if he wants to spend $30 million to get a really good player on his team, SO BE IT!!!! the red sox tried just as hard as the yankees to get a-rod on their team, but the yankees outbid them by only a couple mil. so the yankees didn't win this year, big fuckin deal. everyone's making it sound like the yankees are investing too much money into their players and steinbrenner lost so much money because they didn't go to the world series. keep in mind that the yankees almost always make it to the playoffs, earning more money for those extra games right there. and how many teams that don't make it to the playoffs to begin with, how much money are they missing out on? but u don't hear anyone bitching at them. we never suffered like red sox fans have suffered? what is baseball a survival of the fittest sport now?????? i never heard of the yankees winning the world series by paying the opposing teams pitcher to give them super easy pitches to home run off of. yea i love baseball, and i'd be just as ecstatic as you all are if the yankees won instead, but holy shit dude you really make it seem like if the sox didn't win this year you'd lose your house or something.

i'll try to clarify some more. the yankees have had one of the highest payrolls in professional sports for at least the past decade. this gives them the ability to totally cash out on rosters stacked with all star players. on top of it, they have a huge market for television and draw alot more money from ticket sales mainly because yankee stadium holds more than fenway. the yankees have always cashed out on red sox players. that's what started the curse, remember? that essentially built up the organization into a dynasty, therefore the yanks were stacked with great teams threw the 30's and 40's when they won the bulk of their championships.
sure the sox have a big payroll too and we do cash out to get big players to win, but keep in mind we have been the only team to constantly nag the yankees in the regular and post season, hence we are one a few teams that can compete with the yankees. the red sox got that way thru the support of the fans, who of course are subjected to some of the most expensive ticket and food prices in baseball(which isn't the biggest reason why we suffer, but still it sucks and generally we go along with it).
In terms of the steinberner "buying" the championships, it's more directed to a long history of everything going in the yankees favor. it was almost like there was a conspracy against the sox to win. take for instance all the bogus calls that have gone against us. there are way to many to list! my favorite one was in 96 ALCS vs. the Orioles (yeah i know it wasn't the sox), who ever hit a "homerun" for the yankees and it was interferred with by a 14 year old kid. that cost the orioles the series and gave the yanks a ring subsequently. I will never forget the hate I felt the next morning when they put the kid on good morning america and make a fucking hero out of him, that's fucking bullshit. it was shit like that, that didn't happen this year. sure manny was safe at 3rd in game 3 but for the most part the sox won pretty much fair and square with no questionable calls to interfer and give us a whole winter to say "what if". (I feel the patriots are ALOT like this now)
I strongly feel that the FOX network favors the yankees to win because they can generate alot more money than the red sox. it's sickening to listen to these fucks constantly degrade everything the sox do, question every fucking play, giving broad speculation on the future of the sox roster suggesting that pedro and everyone is going to ny. tim mccarver starts off his carreer with the cardinals, gets cut by the sox and then plays for the yanks, you think he isn't a little biased? joe the fuck buck works as the broadcaster for the cardinals too. i fucking hate fox.

Cardinals' fans suck, they were praying the whole time for strikeouts and homeruns, I wish we could play the yankees year round.

Yankee fans are good people for the most part cause they're just as passionate as sox fans. Some of my best sports talk friends are yankee fans.
