That was the most wasteful way to use 64 words I've ever seen. The herald is quite funny.

\'Beatdown' thugs eyed in Brockton bashing
By Tom Farmer and Dave Wedge
Monday, December 6, 2004

A vicious beatdown in a Brockton nightclub Friday night is being blamed on the notorious FSU gang which has produced DVDs showing patrons being pummeled in Boston-area clubs.
According to friends of Jarrod Kenney, 22, of Raynham, Kenney and another man were set upon at Roman's on Ames Street by nearly a dozen men wearing black FSU T-shirts who left him with a broken eye socket and head injuries. Witnesses said they observed men videotaping the violence.
\'\'These people just don't care,'' said one eyewitness who asked not to be identified. \'\'He's lucky to be alive. This is what they do. They just go around beating people up.''
The Herald reported last month that Boston police are seeking criminal indictments against members of the gang who are depicted in \'\'Boston Beatdown,'' a DVD showing club patrons being attacked and beaten at hardcore punk rock and metal shows. While Brockton police reportedly responded to the incident Friday night, they could not confirm yesterday it is being investigated. Management at the club could not be reached for comment.
An FSU member who did not want to be identified and who was not at the club Friday, said he was told FSU had nothing to do with the violence there. The FSU member did not deny that other members of the gang were likely at the club. \'\'The club promoter said no FSU members were involved with what happened,'' the FSU member said. \'\'There was a police officer on duty at the club and an EMT on duty who did look after the person who was injured.''
Another eyewitness said Kenney and the other man were attacked without provocation while the hardcore metal band 25 to Life was performing. He said there was no security in the club except for the manager and a bartender. Several Brockton officers showed up after the brawl, he said.
\'\'Some guy out of nowhere punches my friend in the face and knocked his glasses off,'' said the man who asked that his name be withheld. \'\'We were leaving and the dude did it again. Then seven guys jumped on Jarrod. I saw Jarrod getting pummeled, and I saw a guy run across the floor and start kicking him in the head. He started twitching, and I thought he was dead.''
The eyewitness said Kenney was discharged from a Boston hospital yesterday afternoon.
More than 5,000 copies of Boston Beatdown have been sold in stores such as Virgin Records, Sam Goody and Best Buy.

ha, definitely. if he was not at the club, how could he be so sure fsu had nothing to do with the violence?

Thats fucked up that they blame metal for something half rate hardcore bands incite. No wonder why no venues want to book metal shows.

I think you better get ready to get pissed Aaron, it's only a matter of time until Brockton finds a way to shut them down or the burden of lawsuits gets them. That is, if these fights keep happening.

yeah, that picture is irrelevant. if you don't read the caption, you might assume it is from that specific show. the herald sucks.

There is no blaming hardcore vs metal. I book them both. FSU was not in attendance at this show, it was strictly hard dancing and a kid that didn't know the correct etiquet of such. I am not placing blame and it sucks that the kid got hurt, but it is the law of physics that states kinetic energy needs somewhere to go. If a kid is flailing thru the pit he will run into you, just block your face and nuts, do not push/punch back unless you are prepared to catch a fist. and it was only one person beating on one person, the others as bad as it sounds were just making sure noone jumped in. Sadism- violence- this is the world we live in....STOP WHINING

FSU was there. There is NO WAY a hardcore OR metal show would take place in the city of Brockton and have no one from FSU show up. That's just plain ridiculous. Why deny they were there? what's in it for you? are you a 'member'?

LMAO: "the law of physics that states kinetic energy needs somewhere to go." first of all, there are MANY laws of physics, not just one; and second of all, Professor, NONE of the laws of physics say "if you go to a HC show and don't know the etiquette, you will be beat on by 7 guys". jeez that was stupid

I really don't have any interest in getting involved in this shit, but has anyone taken the friggin time to think that the reason everyone keeps stressing that there was no FSU at the show was because the person who did this stupid shit might be claiming affiliation, or helping to hurt the crew's already bad enough reputation? I've known a lot of FSU kids on and off over the years, moreso a long time ago than recently, and the few I have met didn't act this way, and would be EMBARRASED or PISSED to be associated with people who did. I think it's about time the old school kids I remember knowing back in the day take charge again and start tearing some of these bad apples out of the tree.

I used to respect the local crew kids because they were really cool kids, and they earned it.
Now I just respect them because I'm scared shitless not to.

there was yet another FSU article in yesterday's herald, about how they (allegedly) beat up someone outside the Model. of course it was written in that good old sensationalist herald style, and they mentioned "metal" shows again.

any paper with a shred of journalistic integrity would 1) do some damn research about the local scene and 2) realize that giving these thugs publicity only encourages them. but integrity goes out the window when you have headlines like "FLORI-DUH"

i feel the same way. i wrote them an email about their lack of research on monday. the word metal doesn't belong anywhere in those articles, unless it is used to describe the substance a weapon is made of. i'm not trying to say fsu uses weapons, because i haven't done enough research to imply that they do, but if they use weapons made of metal in any of the beatdowns, then that is the only way the word should appear in these articles.

apparently, it doesn't happen at hardcore shows. just punk and metal.

"FSU means \'\'Friends Stand United,'' it is also known as \'\'(expletive) (expletive) Up.'"
