THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, BREATHING FIRE, SAINT JUDE[views:23034][posts:76]AS220 (Providence, RI) - [asshole_parade][breathing_fire][randomshots][saint_jude][the_holy_mountain] [show listing] ______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 2:45am - Lamp ""] That picture pretty much represents the whole set. I feel dumb that I waved the microphone in his face though. I was trying to see if he was awake. |

I miss that place. it's been so long since I shot there. one of the last shows I shot there a band got mad cause I said something about them sounding like SFU. heh heh |
______________________________________ [Mar 22,2007 11:37am - brendannli ""] yeh, I did. check out the random shots. |

_____________________________________ [Mar 22,2007 4:26pm - KeithMutiny ""] im really sad i missed this, i was looking forward to it for weeks, i got sick on the way home from work and got stuck here, fuckin bummed. |
______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 4:50pm - Lamp ""] You probably would have been more bummed if you actually saw Asshole Parade's "set". All the other bands ruled though. |

_______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 8:38pm - yummy ""] overall, a good show. Great first show for saint jude, very good sound, and just glad to see Brendan singing in another band. Breathing fire played pretty well but I got tiresome partway through. Holy Mountain was incredible. lots of energy and just fun songs, good band to see. Asshole parade......ummm....yeah as rev put it to me "he's pretty drunk", as if there could have been any other explanation. Yep, he fall too many times to count, the last one off the stage was spectacular. I think everyone felt it. But, I was pretty disappointed, there set was a trainwreck from the beginning. Music was on point, but anybody else there could have sung better. good to see familiar faces. |
_______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 8:39pm - yummy ""] my weak attempt at beating rev to a review |
______________________________________ [Mar 22,2007 8:50pm - keithmobile ""] so asshole parade didnt really pull through, or what? they've been one of my favorites for like 8 years |
_______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 9:00pm - yummy ""] the rest of the band were clearly not happy playing with the singer the way he was. It was like a debate the whole set. How many more shitty songs can we play? People were asking around who could sing. So, pull through? no. I can guarantee any other time to see them would be better. |
______________________________________ [Mar 22,2007 9:04pm - keithmobile ""] damn, i know every one of thier songs |
____________________________________ [Mar 22,2007 9:06pm - RichHorror ""] All beers are for me. |
_______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 9:12pm - yummy ""] I knew some better than the singer |
______________________________________ [Mar 22,2007 9:14pm - keithmobile ""] last time they came through travis had quit drinking, i guess this tour thats not the case |
_______________________________ [Mar 22,2007 10:00pm - Lamp ""] The shirt I bought last night is still sitting in my car rolled up in the tape. |
______________________________________ [Mar 23,2007 12:46am - brendannli ""] yeh, where is the rev review? and why did arrested development get cancelled? fox is fuckin up! |
______________________________________ [Mar 23,2007 1:07pm - the_reverend ""] this show was more than worth it for all the people that I got to see that I haven't seen in what feels like years. Ben put on an awesome show. It was also great talking with him. I think he's getting younger and younger each time I go down there. saint_jude: awesome to see brendan back behind the mic. the band was really good. it wasn't a second coming of TNC, but it was good. the music was sort of like phobia. short-ish grindy songs with dancible parts in it that the legions of Saint Judians (their fans) can kick of their shoes to and pick up their feet. They had a large number of people there for them and there were tons of people moving around. breathing fire: I'm not sure what they sounded like in real life. I was expecting punk, but it was slower. much slower. I would put it somewhere between kylessa and khanate. no dance parts, kind of dirgey at times. I thought they were good, but I want to see how it translates to CD/MP3. holy mountain, the: eh, compared to the aviary show, this wasn't as good. the singer was a lot sloppier than he was when I saw them at the aviary. I mean he wasn't asshole parade sloppy and it was still awesome, but not at level 500 awesome like the last time I saw them. this was more at a 400 level awesomeness. If they had headlined, the singer might have been as bad as asshole parade, but I doubt it. I didn't think they ended with slaves like the play list said, but I'm probably wrong. asshole parade: yeah, these guys were a frigging disappointment. the last time I saw them they were awesome. this time it was like 4 dudes playing bad ass music and the village idiot. I don't think I heard him sing more that a second of any song and he would be on his back, on the floor, or just laughing. The singer kept saying "this is the last time you will see us". I wish the last time I saw them was the last. lame. in cambridge, keep the booze away from him or it's the crowdz whoz looz. |

The 7" I have is very similar to Mind Eraser. |
______________________________________ [Mar 23,2007 2:04pm - the_reverend ""] huh, it seems slower than mind eraser. |
______________________________ [Mar 23,2007 2:21pm - Lamp ""] Mind Eraser has a lot of slow parts in their songs too actually, I was wondering if it was one of those bands that was all the same people but only the drummer was present. |
