A. Absolutely nothing!
B. This dude could care less about any of your bitching considering hes raking in enough money to afford rent at a space on newbury street.
C. You all hate for no reason! A clothing company has nothing to do with "hardcore!" Since when does he market shirts with X's and other hardcor symbology on it? All he does is sell shirts with fucking cupcakes on them and kids buy them....so again...where does hardcore fit into this equation?

You all got a serious hating problem...fact of the matter is hes raking in more a day than any of you working a 9-5. Yes RTTP, thats "so gay..."

You are wrong. It has to do with the hxc scene because he sells right into it. You cant go to any hardcore show where you will see a bunch of nerds wearing the stupid cupcake, that they bought for 50 bucks, suckers.

why the fuck do you care what some 15 year old kid wears at a show? if he wants to spend his parent's money on a stupid shirt... so be it. the fact that anyone even gives this a second thought or allows their blood pressure to rise because of it is ridiculous. the dude has a successful business selling stupid "designer" clothes for absurd amounts of money that most people here dont want to buy. he was also in a pretty shitty metalcore band that blew up pretty quick (people jealous?) good for him hes making a career out of something he enjoys, i just wont be buying his shit or going to his stores.

I love the notion that, because someone is 'successful' at something, somehow that translates to us not being able to criticize it for fear of offending scathing anonytards.

Well, fuck cupcakes, fuck George Bush, fuck Avril Lavigne, P. Diddy, B.U.M. equipment AND Avenged Sevenfold. Nyar.

yeah upon careful consideration, fuck this guy...and while we are at it, fuck liberated images, and axis fabrix, and hatewear...how dare they create and sell clothing to hardcore kids...thats so not core d00d...neither is the fact that people actually buy it.

I don't care who sells what to Hardcore kids. But those shirts look really dumb. At least make cool images.

all the arguments in favor of this store are poor to say the least.

1. What does this have to do with hardcore? This clothing line may or may not have been funded completely on his own but the exposure the line had through it's association with OBW and "hardcore" was what launched it. That's just a fact and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. The important thing to note here is that Johnny Cupcakes never really DID anything in On Broken Wings. He was the "dj" or something, but in actuality all he really did was play a sample here or there. When he "left the band" I couldn't even tell the difference besides there being one less dude on stage, and one less sample before.. whatever that song is. Everything he did "musically" could have been accomplished by pushing a button on a 4 track. WHAT HE DID DO in the band was sell t-shirts, push his clothing line, and turn shows into a big tupperware party for his merch. Weather you think that's an insulting misuse of a music scene, or a smart business move is totally up to you. But don't be stupid and say this had nothing to do with "hardcore".

2. People with money are freely criticized every day. I don't see the Boston Globe ragging on some Newbury Street bum's approach to foreign policy. Of course not, they criticize George Bush, John Kerry, big mouthed flavor of the month celebrities... people who make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. You can't buy respect, and you can't buy the ability to be right. And yes, the Johnny Cupcakes store will exist with or without the approval of RTTP, or anyone on it. But if no one really cares what we think then why are anonymous internet cronies popping out of the woodwork to defend this crappy clothing line? Seems to me like going out of your way to defend something is what you do when you care. And what a totally noble cause to get behind too... screen printed cupcakes on aqua blue t shirts. Fight the power.

3. yeah upon careful consideration, fuck this guy...and while we are at it, fuck liberated images, and axis fabrix, and hatewear...how dare they create and sell clothing to hardcore kids...thats so not core d00d...neither is the fact that people actually buy it.
I think someone just set their computer to Auto-Stupid for this one. Just because people are buying and selling goods no one is supposed to make fun of it? There are HOW MANY companies marketing, and manufacturing dildos, and butt plugs right now? There are HOW MANY trucks full of windchimes, and cat t-shirts headed to Christmas Tree Shops as we speak? There are HOW MANY weapons and explosives being dealt to terrorists worldwide? Just because a supply and demand are present doesn't make the transaction worthwhile. The world will still keep turning even if all those industries went under, in fact the world might be a better place without them. Fact is fact: if you're going to make an assinine product (like Oh... I dunno... a bunch of super expensive t shirts with cupcakes on them, marketed to 20 somethings hipsters but look like they should be marketed to 5 year old girls) you should expect an assinine response.

And I don't know anyone who actually goes to shows and wears any of those afforementioned brands. All my friends wear clothes they've picked up over the years from actually going to shows, putting their time in, and giving legitimate support to something they enjoy. But that's just me, and that doesn't make me anything.

4. I hope Johnny Cupcakes makes more money than Steve Forbes. Sincerely. I hope this business does great, and he makes a billion dollars because that money is coming straight from the pockets of irresponsible hipster shitbombs with money already burning holes in their pockets. I hope they toss all their money straight at Johnny Cupcakes and go broke like they usually do after they spend all thier money on dumb shit instead of rent, bills, and/or anything worthwhile that might help them out in life. So when they're huddled up in the gutter dirt fucking broke trying to decide which designer pink shirt to burn just to keep warm I'll be living like a cartoon king in my heated apartment funded by putting my hard earned money in MY bank account, and not Johnny Cupcakes'. When it gets to that point I'd gladly sit down and have a glorious steak dinner with Jonny Cupcakes himself, and have a hearty laugh over the whole situation.

I walked by the shop on Saturday and there was a line of people waiting to get into the store.

There setup is cool, at least from what I could see from the outside. Modeled after a bakery and instead of bags there shirts come in boxes that look like Munchkin' boxes. At least you know where your $35 is going.

My only problem with Johnny Cupcakes was the anger over Urban Outfitters 'stealing' one of their designs when Johnny Cupcakes has done the same thing a few dozen times over the years.

Yes, but people would argue that the designs he spun aren't really hurting anyone... Take for example the celtics logo. You think any members of the boston celtics are pissed about him using the design? if anything, that's free publicity.

What urban outfitters did was take the design of a very small, under funded company for their own profit.

lets weigh it out

JC - stole the design of a basket ball team that makes more money in a year then you will in your life, wich didn't cut into their income

UO - stole the design of a small indy company, and cut in to his potential income, and may have cost him gross amounts of money if he decided to take them to court for royalties.

Axis Fabrix did custom screening for the lowest rates I've ever seen and will price match, set up free, and pay for shipping for you. They've done more for the local music scene than you know and not only that, they recently went out of buisiness doing it.

There is a clear difference between what Jess and Rich did at axis fabrix than what JE is doing with Jcupcakes. They aren't even in the same industry.

I'd rather spend my money on Keno than t-shirts. But xMikex / "Mike FTD" - didn't your friend/crew-homie(who is seemingly larger/tougher than you) get his ass beat by Collin for talking shit on the Internet & in general? I could of sworn I saw it on the Boston beat down dvd. Didn't he play drums for back of tha neck, who also had a song making fun of people that talk shit on the Internet? My older brother has seen you at shows singing along and dancing to this Internet Thug song. Ironic. Just thought that you specifically, talking on Collins friend Johnny - on the Internet, is funny. You're a funny guy.

1. If you've got a problem with Chad take it up with Chad. He's a big boy. He handles his own messes.

2. I didn't "talk shit" on anybody. I brought up some pretty well reasoned arguments for and against a t-shirt store. I don't force my beliefs on anybody, and at 24 years old I'd like to think I'm slightly beyond making threats over t shirts.. If you have a problem dealing with that then that sounds like your problem. Anyone who brings themself out into the public eye like Johnny Cupcakes has done is most likely prepared for criticism. That's a fact. And out of all the people you mentioned I don't think any of them would have a problem with approaching me and discussing it should they take offense to it. No one's out to pick a fight but you. If you don't like internet fights then don't start one.

ON BROKEN WINGS = ROCKS DUDE THEY HAVE A NEWER SOUND AND BETTER LYRICS IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO STOP BANDWAGONING ON TO EVERYTHING ON FUSE AND LISTENED TO SOME REAL TALENT YOU WOULDN'T JUDGE JOHN'S SUCCESS! HE WORKED REAL HARD TO BE ABLE TO START SOMETHING NEW AND FUN, AND HE APPRECIATES ARTISTIC TENDENCIES OF AVID MUSIC LISTENERS, AND BOSTON HARDCORE IS WAY MORE TOLERANT THAT ANY OTHER SCENE ANYWHERE, EVEN NYC DOESN'T SHOW SUCH ACCEPTANCE AS THESE GUYS DO.
