They are not solely responsible for the creation of Black Metal, true, and it would be short-sighted to make such a statement, but they did play a hand in it...and they are one of the bands most responsible for the spread and major influence of Satanism in heavy metal (whether that be schlock Satanism, LaVeyan philosophy, or whatever you choose). I know. I've been a Satanist for over 20 years, and I was there. How old are you? There is nothing wrong with using Satan as a metaphor, or any other pseudo-religious image. Do you think all your favorite 'Satanic' bands are actually 100% Satanic? Do you think you exclusively own the right to TrOo Satanism? Think again. People are entitled to interpret it the way they want. Also, there are many USBM groups who are excellent. Not all of them conform to your categorization of a 'scene'.
