I am getting really fucking tired of booking agents

One booking agent told me that the band I wanted to get would only be available after October 17th, so I went the distance to find a space and everything, then fucko tells me that they're onlly gonna do like a short tour in NOV and that's it, without every updating me.

Then this other guy asks me for the first weekend in October, i go out of my way to find a bill and a venue, and now I'm not hearing back from this guy.

This is why good bands don't get booked around here.
Sheesh.

I am going to downgrade how many shows I do to one show or less a month.

Because I am getting sick of booking shows.

and honestly, as far as what I book, I'm going to do one show a month too, I think, cause trying to set up 4 for October was a really poor move on my point.

I can't properly work all the angles at once. It's much easier when someone else books the show and you just gotta make flyers for it and stuff, as opposed to talking with the venue people, getting the bands, etc.

hey toc if u ever need a band on the fly, hcn can usually do it.
unfortunatley, alot of people in bands are too lazy to book or get back to people, and that plagues the metal scene.

I booked Oct 8 and 9th, I wish I said no to the 8th because some guy basically gave me an ultimatum, book it and he will help RK get shows in NY. I don't think it was really worth it though, RK won't have trouble getting shows in NY and the guy seems like a total idiot.

Too many shows have ruined the draw to my shows, so doing less will only get more people at the ones I do have. If I do more it will only be because of tours I get offered, because thats what I want to do from now on. I am not interested in trying to save a scene of ungrateful bands who don't even help promote - but this is what people want from me for some reason. I am only interested in doing what I want and I've been losing sight of that so it's time to slow down and re-evaluate.
My biggest fear from before was that nobody who would book other shows would ever book the bands on my label, but I don't think that is true anymore.

JNC - Yeah it's not so true anymore. I like Conifer and Raising Kubrick, so I'm trying to set up stuff for them, so it's all good.

PK - if you can help me set up ones I need to set up, I'd be happy to.

right now I am working on like 4 shows for October (about 4, if not 5) and it's all solo, so it's getting to take it's toll. If you want to take a driver's seat on that Bombshelter show, by all means that would be awesome.

Joe, I agree with less shows, better draws. Maybe you should give your bands the ultimatum when you decide to sign them, promote the shows I put you on or you'll have to find your own shows? You're a one man gang Joe, you've done a lot for a lot of bands!!!

My bands aren't the problem, they always promote shows.

I think I can better serve my bands as a label if I am not tied up with all these shows. At first it was worth it because nobody else was doing shows, except the idiots in the south shore who always dicked me around when it came to trying to get Disengaged shows.
I think I have figured out what is best around here, all my bands know I am a start up label, and though it's been a few years I am still learning what to do as time goes on, when new situation present themselves. All the bands are really supportive of this and is one of the key elements when I went out and signed bands, no attitudes or bullshit. I don't know how big this will get, Conifer will definately draw alot of attention to my label though - which I need to use to the advantage of all the bands.
