so the show went well in my opinion. light turnout, i'd say maybe around 70 people. i got there around 7 p.m. the town looked run-down as hell, and Albie's Bar was on the corner. so i go inside, and there's a band playing. i don't know who they were, but they sounded kinda thrashy. they were pretty cool, wasn't diggin the vocals though Held Under - first time hearing this band. i was very impressed. the singer looks like the singer from Dark Tranquility. they played a good set and the crowd was very responsive. they finished their set by covering Suffocation's "Thrones of Blood", and they did a damn good job!!! it was pretty sweet. Fractured Reality - horrible. is all i can say. horrible. no one moved, and the music was beyond gay. they had a very poserific nu-metal type sound to them. i don't think anyone was into their shit. Dehumanized - we finally got the place moving and finally had a pit going for the first time in the night. the sound was pretty muddy, and we all had trouble hearing the drums, which i'm sure resulted in one or 2 noticeable mistakes. still, the crowd ate it all up. they were definately into it and showed their support. overall i was pretty pleased. Putrid Pile - this GUY (notice the singular noun) stole the show IMO. for those who don't know. Putrid Pile is a dude from Wisconsin who plays guitar and vocals, and plays NY style slam death metal to a drum machine. and he tore shit up. this was my first time ever hearing Putrid Pile, but i heard many good things about him from different people. it turned out better than i expected. the guitars sounded great, and his vocals are fucking BRUTAL!!!! shit, he had a better crowd response than Dehumanized did! i'm listening to his cd now, and it kicks ass. you all should get it, Collection of Butchery. Leukorrhea - i was pretty damned tired by the time they came on, so i spent most of their set lying down on a bench just trying to relax. sorry guys. they did sound good though, i was diggin it. i don't remember how the crowd responded though. Skinless - thankfully, just about everyone stuck around for Skinless, who didn't get to start till after 12. unlike their Rhode Island and Connecticut shows that i played with them earlier this month, they actually got to play a full set last night. they almost didn't stop, and just kept going straight from song to song to song. guitars were a bit low in the mix, but they sounded great. Jason is really doing a good job going nuts on and off stage. Once again, as always, Skinless put on a great show. Plus they finally played Enslavement, probably my favorite Skinless song, so i was quite happy. i'm gonna have to keep pestering Jason and Joe to play Pool Of Stool though.
