IRON MAIDEN appreciation thread -[views:3616][posts:2]________________________________________ [Jul 16,2005 2:20pm - Distrust-Kevin ""] Maiden totally won over the crowd at Ozzfest last night. They delivered without flaw. Opening with The Ides Of March and Wrathchild, they then pushed on with a 55 minute set of classics, including Phantom of The Opera, Running Free, and Hallowed Be Thy Name. I think Maiden made quite a few new American fans last night. Good for metal. |

They played Iron Maiden about 35 minutes into the set. They had way too much mid on the vocals so Dickinson sounded like Alvin and The Chipmunks when he did the high notes...they also said they were going to play all this old obscure stuff...and proceeded to play the hits from those albums that they've played in their last few tours...nothing new really...except Phantom of the Opera...that was great...I heard they were going to do Murders in The Rue Morgue as the openner so I was all psyched...and then they went into wrathchild. Sabbath on the other hand was suprisingly good. Ozzy was so/so but the band was pretty tight and though they did cut up some stuff into lame medleys, they still played almost every song I wanted to hear from them (including the suprising Electric Funeral) but they neglected to play Snowblind or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (in full) which was a bit dissapointing. I think we got screwed on the Maiden set because it was the first night of the tour and Ozzy had some voice so Sabbath got a very long set. |

Actually, a 3 hour set would be great. Nah, make it five. Yeah. five. |
