I've heard everything from "I can master it for you!" to "This won't need to be mastered, it's fine as it is!" It's all crap. In general, unless the engineer recording you KNOW is a great mastering dude, I would take it elsewhere and get it mastered. Even when you trust the guy, it's great to have a second set of ears on it. Mastering can make a terrible recording sound top notch. It brings everything into the right proportions and compresses it to where it should be the same on any given sound system. Never trust the recording engineer when it comes to that![/QUOTE]
