I got fired from my job on saturday. Someone there didn't want to respect me, so I wouldn't respect them either, and they couldn't handle it. Here's the text of a blog that I put up on myspace about the whole thing: _____________________________________________________________ My frustrations with my job came to the point where I slipped up and gave the management a reason to fire me. Since I started working there, the cooks and myself didn't exactly get along all that well. the problem was, I was serious about my job. You read that correctly. I wanted to get my job done as well as I possibly could. Does that sound to you like something that would be a problem? It is when your coworkers prioritize fucking around instead of getting their work done. throwing shit at me, making fun of me and calling me names and shit, that crap started going on and I really didn't give a shit. There came a night however, when the fucking around that they were doing started to have an adverse effect on the work that I was trying to do. yeah, them screwing around made it harder for me to do my job. that's when I actually got pissed off about it. they noticed that, and of course, they started trying to piss me off as much as they could. it wasn't all the cooks, actually just a select couple of them. The management didn't seem to care. way to go, losers. Another cook was hired after some time, and this guy decided that he was just better than I am. there was a little drama thing that happened, details of it are really too stupid to be worth repeating, but from my side, all i really did was start making it harder for those three cooks to do their jobs. Exactly what they were continuously doing to me. They couldn't handle that so the new guy decided to make a problem for the other cooks. he got fired, I got suspended for two weeks. Honestly that was a sweet vacation. This guy was basically some loser hippy who did nothing but somke pot. it's kinda funny because one of the other asshole cooks, Trout, was applying for a part-time job to get more money, and after this guy got fired he happened to walk into the same place at the same time, and they applied together. Trout told me that the management there asked him if he would recomend this hippy nobody, and he told them flat-out that he wouldn't, because the guy was lazy. Pay attention to this last part because it plays into the management's scheming and using drama inside the restaurant to fire who they don't like. Welcome to the restaurant business, where nobody seems to have noticed that they're not in high school anymore. So i come back from my vacation and the shit starts all over again. Once again I take it like a man, and last night I gave a little bit back. We're down to two asshole cooks at this point, their nicknames are shank and trout. Trout is currently saving up money so that he can move to Cinncinatti to be with his daughter and the mother of his daughter, who ran off on him a while ago. I'm sure that his daughter being gone influences that decision, but what kind of pussy lets a woman, or anyone for that matter, dictate his life like that? I sure as hell don't. The other asshole cook is named shank. he's married. to some big fat lady. So, last night, Shank was handing me a plate with an enchilada on it, and I asked him to garnish it with some lettuce. he grabbed a handful of lettuce and threw it at me. oh, the hilarity. A manager happened to be standing right there at the time. I told Shank that I have go out and serve tables and I don't need food all over me, but that didn't make a difference to him. So, then I said, "Maybe you should throw some lettuce at your fat greasy wife, it might help her lose some weight." The kitchen fell silent at that point, and Shank replied "What the fuck did you just say?" The manager told me to walk away, so I went ahead and got back to work. after I finished my shift that night manager told me I didn't have a job there anymore because that shit kept going on. he also told me that Shank had almost started crying because of what I said. Another thing he said was that the cooks actually liked me a lot, and they did all that shit cause they liked me. If what you do to the people who you like is make it harder for them to do their jobs, well then fuck you, i don't need you. There were a bunch of reasons why I was planning on quitting this job anyway. I actually was talking to some of my coworkers earlier that night, and I was saying how the only reason I haven't quit is because not enough money is better than no money at all. Yeah, I wasn't making nearly what I'm wortht there. I've been complaining about the shit to all of my friends, and I'm sure they're all sick to death of hearing it. but, since you've read this far already, I'm going to bore you with the details of why I'm pretty happy that I'm not working there anymore. Sidework. there was a lot of it. It got to the point at times where trying to get my sidework done became the priority over serving my customers. That aint' cool. the customers themselves. Can you say stereotype? I sure as hell can. Thing is, I'm not a person who needs any more hate. I've got more than my share already. So working there just wasn't good for me. The management was not working with me for giving me the hours I needed. I only work at a stupid fucking restaraunt because it allows me to go to class during the day. I've got better shit to do with my friday and saturday nights than wait on a bunch of people who don't appreciate it. which brings me to: Money. I wasn't making what I was worth there. I always made certain to give my customers the best experience that I could. In the last resaurant I worked at, this equated to better tips. Not here, but i still tried to do it anyway. this is why I'd get so pissed about some stupid food-throwing and shit like that, that made things harder for me. I worked my ass off and got nothing for it. the bottom line is, the way I work, I'm better than that place. you can disagree with me, but you would be wrong. here's a few parting thoughts: Q: Was my comment toward Shank an unsolicited "low blow?" A: I don't care When I was younger I used to let people walk all over me. I honestly consider this whole thing to be a little bit of personal growth. I could have knocked out any one of those cooks at any time, but it's just not worth getting arrested for some stupid bullshit. I guess Shank understands that too, because he came pretty close to hitting me after my comment. The manager who let me go told me that, but to me it was just laughable. I'm twice the size of Shank, and if he had hit me, I would have just called the cops and gotten him arrested for assault. Really not worth it for some stupid food-throwing bullshit, is it? Anyway, if he weren't such a crybaby pussy, I'd still have a job. meh. Well, there is one definite upside to all of this: At least I'm not married to some greasy fat chick. _______________________________________________________________ Aaron, when you were told you were going to get a promotion and didn't recieve it, that's when you should have found something else. If I were you, I would do that now. I don't put up with bullshit.
