Nate said:
pam nli said:
Do people really need a reason not to live in the South?
Actually, it's a shitload cheaper to live in the South. My rent, which used to be $1400 in MA has been cut to just under $400 a month here in NC. And that's just rent. Food and neccessities are much cheaper, and for people like me who smoke cigs they are WAY cheaper than up north. So there are plenty of reasons for moving or living in the south, being able to get ahead in life and have something for my kids is a major issue for me and moving here is helping alot.
You nailed it. In Florida, there is no state income tax, and the cost of living is just much cheaper. Besides that, Jacksonville is such an up and coming city. There is so much construction going on everywhere. It's a lot better than depressing, old, run down Worcester. I flew into Boston last year from here, and it was just so depressing. Don't get me wrong, I don't love it down here or anything, but it's definitely not bad either...
