So I pick up an application from a local package store, they need a new clerk and I need a p/t job. Everything is standard, but then I see they ask for your Social Security Number.

I'm not worried that the current workers or owners would mess with my SS#, I'm just worried they wont properly shred each copy (its going to be faxed to the "main" store so there will be 2+ copies) and some dumpster diving fiend could scoop it up.

So what do I do? Leave the space blank, write it in or ask if they shread their applications?

With all the increasing ID thefts, I'm just a tad paranoid about my SS# these days...

leave it blank, you don't have to give it to them now. Once your officially hired, different story.
