xmikex @ work said:
Josh_Martin said:
Reading through that thread was kind of interesting. It seems like there's going to be a return to the early 80's, before the crossover, back when hardcore and metal were mortal enemies. I think this is a good thing. Altough the original crossover scene was fucking awesome, look what it eventually turned into. Today's metal is about 95% gay and today's hardcore, except for the fastcore style which is so deep in the underground only the most rabid fans even know about those bands, is completely awful. A separation of the scenes can be nothing but good. If a few people get the shit kicked out of them in the process, well, that's just unavoidable collateral damage.
While this could potentially happen I think you've ignored the recent trend of "hardcore" kids pretending to like death metal bands. It's the cool thing now for your band to sound like Ten Yard Fight, and to claim Cryptopsy as your main influence. Just like it was the cool thing 2 years ago to goto hardcore shows in brand new Iron Maiden, and Manowar shirts. Oh, and don't forget the sideways baseball cap.
Ha.
