just my thoughts on...[views:4018][posts:25]_____________________________________ [Jun 11,2006 4:55pm - brendannli ""] ...shows i remember when i first started going to shows back when i was 13, i was always excited about hearing new bands. and being from the northeast i got to see a lot of great bands come up (the hope conspiracy, bane, american nightmare, the red chord, backstabbers inc., etc etc.) the excitement hasn't stopped after 10 years. i love going to shows, i kinda live for it. and not just the shows with the big signed bands on 'em. i love the littler shows with the no-name obscure bands. it breaks my heart when i hear "kids" (the people who go to shows will forever be kids no matter the age, bob otis from dropdead is still a kid to me) saying they're not going to go to a show because they don't know any of the bands playing. that's kinda shitty and totally not punk rock. i remember when mastodon used to play warehouses in olneyville with zombi and dysrythmia and football rabbit, and converge playing in al barkley from contrast records in providence's basement with cave in and piebald. god dammit, i'm only 23 but i'm ancient... get to know bands. who knows, maybe they'll be the next converge, or the red chord, or bury your dead. or maybe they'll just be really fucking good and you'll enjoy yourself. there are always opportunities to explore new music, but there's a damn fine one TONIGHT!!! 3 great local bands, and one touring band from chicago. tower of rome (from chicago, kills shit) throwing shrapnel (love 'em or hate 'em, they mean what they do.) acariya (rhode island swedish influenced metal) nadir (grind from mass, completely blew me away when i played with them) it's at 29 okie street aka the grow room in providence. costs $4, less than a pack of cigarettes! but more than a gallon of gas. do it for the gipper, also, i know this show probably has a lot of threads, but that was just an example to the rant, not the meat and potatoes of the post. oh, that's right, i'm on a forum...umm...you're all faggots and i don't like any of you? <3<3 |
