I walked past Booksmith today and saw that not only is there a new Pynchon book out soon, but also a new Danielewski one already on the shelves. If there were two current authors that make me hate loving to read, it is those guys (throw Umberto Eco in that category too). It makes my head hurt just remembering slogging through House of Leaves or Mason and Dixon, but they are so fucking good you just can't put down their books, no matter how much they make you want to die.

Anyone else hate themselves enough to look forward to reading these?

The new Pynchon doesn't come out until November unfortunately, called "Against the Day" or something like that.

I really need to read more DeLillo. All I've read is White Noise and it was fucking phenomenal. Underworld is definitely on the list.

I thumbed through the new Danielewski today and it looks like it's going to take some work with two stories being told simultaneously, one read forwards and one backwards and up-side down. We'll see I guess.
