Christian metal[views:6036][posts:39]_____________________________________ [Nov 5,2006 12:46pm - Anti-Racism ""] Does anyone here like Christian metal? As part of my newfound impetus to tolerance, I want to tolerate Christian metal. I think Christian metal bands are like immigrants, coming to the country of metal and learning the language and taking the minimum-wage jobs we the citizens don't want. Although their way of life often totally conflicts with ours, I think if we tolerate them, we can live and let live (so long as there are more of us come election time). What do you think? |

____________________________________ [Nov 5,2006 3:05pm - AUTOPSY_666 ""] BELIEVER DEVASTATION PARAMAECIUM I can stomach those. |
___________________________________________ [Nov 5,2006 4:13pm - ConquerTheBaphomet ""] Extol (Old stuff was black/thrashy) Frost Like Ashes (Christian "black" metal) Antestor (Christian "black" metal) Tourniquet Vengeance Rising (Old stuff was amazing but too bad the lead singer went to Satanism and devoted a web page to his cause) Vomitorial Corpulence (Christian goregrind) Crimson Thorn (Christian death metal) All these bands are amazing. |

______________________________________ [Nov 5,2006 8:11pm - y_ddraig_goch ""] Christian black metal is an oymoron. |

_______________________________________ [Nov 5,2006 9:05pm - DestroyYouAlot ""] Don't forget Mortification! "God Rules!" |
___________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 1:27am - ConquerTheBaphomet ""] Mortification was good with their old stuff but over the years they lost their death metal edge. They put out a record a few years ago, it was good, but not the old Mortification I like. By the way, lend your ears to some Immortal Souls, Aletheian, Excurses, The Showdown, and Tortured Conscience. All are of death metal descent. |
___________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 1:30am - ConquerTheBaphomet ""] Also, I would like to point out that not every band with Christians in it is a "Christian metal band". This is the stereotype that is in people's minds. Look, people can be Christians and play metal and it's not such a horrible thing. I have heard of bands with spiritual messages that could show up the bands who are all about killing people and worshipping Satan. To me, this genre is all about the music. |
_____________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 1:32am - the_reverend ""] Tourniquet's great! or atleast that's what I tell myself and then I listen to it and remember it's not. mortification's ok. devastation rules. |

_____________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 12:42pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] Mortification sucks. Extol is great aside from their lyrics. Tourniquet was only good for like two albums (aside from their lyrics). Deliverance was okay (aside from their lyrics). Believer was great. Trouble was largely considered Christian metal back in the day, but they never pushed their beliefs so they were only Christian in the literal sense, and that was a great band. Vengeance Rising, however, was amazing Christian thrash, and the lyrics were hilarious. Listen to songs like "I Love Hating Evil" and "Burn Satan Burn". Great stuff. |
____________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 12:46pm - anonymous ""] Living Sacrifice is cool shit ... and that last Stryper album was suprisingly good |
______________________________ [Nov 6,2006 12:46pm - Yeti ""] Stryper hahahahahahahahahahaha to hell with the devil! |
_____________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 12:48pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] Wasn't Stryper originally a speed metal band? I never could get into Living Sacrifice. |
______________________________ [Nov 6,2006 12:49pm - Yeti ""] i didnt mind some of Zao's stuff, it wasnt great by any means but a few songs were ok. |
___________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 3:49pm - ConquerTheBaphomet ""] Living Sacrifice with their first couple albums with their old singer/bassist was a death/thrash metal band and were really influential in their day. Stryper will always be the scapegoat of "Christian metal". I like them but it's hard to take them seriously sometimes. To be honest, I have never heard Devastation. I will have to look them up. Zao is a very influential part of the real metalcore scene because of the time they came out and what they accomplished. If you watch their DVD "The Lesser Lights of Heaven" they explain everything about the band. |

___________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 4:56pm - ConquerTheBaphomet ""] The newest Extol was a change in style because of new members. They wanted a new direction and I don't think I'm into that direction. They seemed to have lost their edge. If you listen to Undeceived and then The Blueprint Dives, it is dramatically different. |
________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 4:57pm - aNtHoNy ""] yeah Undeceived and the one after that are mind-blowing. So fucking good. Blueprint Dives makes me go zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
____________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 5:08pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] Devastation? The speed/thrash band? I didn't realize they were actively Christian. |
______________________________ [Nov 6,2006 5:40pm - Troll ""] I'd say Black Sabbath's "Master Of Reality" is a Christian Metal album. Seriously. Ozzy worshipped Weed and Christ, unless his drug dealer was a Mexican by the name of Jesus (Hey-Zeus). Read the lyrics. Thats not the only Sabbath album that touches on the subject of christianity either. Cristian or not...Good music. |
___________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 6:33pm - anonymousteinberg ""] Believer sounds like Nuclear Assault on music lessons. No thanks. Extol is crap. Black Sabbath was good until Ozzy left, then the pole smoking mania set in. |

He was the big cross-humper out of the bunch. (Still my favorite album.) |

________________________________________ [Nov 6,2006 10:28pm - VoidExpression ""] Kekal and Paramaecium definitely. Obviously old-school Living Sacrifice had a huge impact on me as well. Virgin Black, Horde, Lengsel, Eluveitie, Antestor, Vomitorial Corpulence, Crimson Thorn, Saviour Machine and Slechtvalk are all at least decent bands also. |
