TOTAL FURY....Sounds Like: Minor Threat, Faith, Teen Idles, S.O.A., Untouchables, Bad Brains:
"Fast, raw and melodic hardcore. Drawing influences from the early DC scene (ala 1981), the music of course has a very familiar feel to it, that will keep you re-listening to this over and over again.""Something has to be said for a band that gets the sound so right that it puts them in the leagues of their influences while you're listening to it. Recorded in 2000, these 14 songs (yes, theres a hidden track) are a perfect reaction against the metal-ization of most hardcore. The Japanese band Total Fury had an obvious pre-occupation with D.C. hardcore circa 1981. From the ultra-trebly guitar tone and simplistic drumming to the breakneck, yet melodic riffs, they definitely nailed it. The breakdowns are not metal whatsoever, and the vocals are not screamed, but enthusiastically shouted. The heaviest influence understandably coming from Minor Threat, songs like Youre Too Old give more resemblance to the mid-tempo crunch of the Untouchables, and the riff changeups recall Bad Brains at their fastest."

LA FRACTION... some reviews and descriptions:
"4 piece female fronted french punk from Paris, going since 199?, 3 albums out: 1- self titled on crash disques 2- Aussi Long sera le chemin (2002) on crash disques 3- La Vie Révée 2006 this one coming out on a flurry of various labels associated for the occasion. They have toured Europe extensively and done one north american tour so far, very energetic live shows, best seen when no time constraints are put on their performance." "Long awaited 3rd album from them damn Punk Rockers, haha. Energetic Punk with catchy and melodic parts, nice female vocals (she sure knows how to use vibrato) and well written lyrics both personal and political. 10 tracks in the way of Aussi Long Sera le Chemin." "The title translates into: "however long it takes". This is their 2nd Lp and it was really worth the wait. Raging straightforward fast and melodic punk with some of the best female vocals you can come across!! The style of singing reminds me a lot of this typical french "chanson-style" singing, if you don't know what I mean, get this and find out. Nothing really changed, but the production is more powerful than on their last already outstanding release. Comes in a nice 4-coloured sleeve with a 4 coloured booklet - lyrix are translated in english for those who are not familiar with French."

GARAGE LP REATARD, JAY Blood Visions In the Red 11.99 new
This record is a top ten record for me from last year. Awesome songwriting, catchy as hell tunes, garagy, punk, most songs wrapped up in about 2 minutes. Lyrics are dark ala Lost Sounds here and there. I haven't met anyone that's heard this record that didn't go out and buy it yet. Fucking awesome! Ben/Armageddon
Having founded seminal Memphis punk outfit The Reatards at the tender age of sixteen, Jay Reatard is a seasoned veteran of the garage-punk scene and he's barely twenty-six years old. In the '90s The Reatards turned the Memphis underground rock scene upside down with a legendary live show so over-the-top that they were banned in a number of European countries. Never content to stick to one genre, one project or one band, Jay also co-leads the synth-punk Lost Sounds with Alicja Trout, plays drums for The Final Solutions, co-fronts The Angry Angles and runs his own label Shattered Records. He's developed such a dedicated following that even his dirty socks have sold on eBay! In The Red is proud to announce the release of Blood Visions, Jay's first as a solo artist. Combining the aggressive approach of The Reatards with a melodic pop sensibility, and production recalling classic UK punk records -- The Adverts (who are covered here), Siouxsie & the Banshees, ATV, etc. -- Blood Visions is the most satisfying accomplishment of this young man's career thus far.

INDIE CD BRAINBOMBS Singles Collection Volume 2 Polly Maggoo 14.99 new
BRAINBOMBS have been spreading their particular brand of maximum inthered noise around the world since 1987. Coming from the small town Hudiksvall, Sweden, they've put out releases on lots of labels such as Big Brothel, Big Ball, Blackjack, Wabana, Ken Rock, Load, Tumult, Anthem etc. What really needs to be said about BRAINBOMBS? Other than they rule! Single after single these nightmare storytellers have been blowing out their dirty guitar abjections even more… (to quote those Brainbombs supporters at Aquarius Records) : "A simple riff, doused in distortion and played through some beat up amp, repeated over and over and over, mantra like, hypnotic and disturbing, the drums propulsive and motorik, a horn bleating and skronking within the murk and mire", while "the vocals, delivered in a disturbing detached deadpan drawl, recount tales of depravity, ultra violence and murder". This record concentrates on the second half of this band's recorded work, 10 out-of-print singles sides (1997-2006) and 4 unreleased scorching live versions of "Danny", "Urge", "Tired & Bloody" and "Stacy" (a rare document considering the band has only played live a mere handful of times!)Liner notes by the LAMPS' Monty Buckles, Perfect companion to BRAINBOMBS previous Singles CD on LOAD Records. 70 minutes of filthy, jazzy, garage-punk sludge. Fans of ELECTRIC EELS, CHROME, FLIPPER, JAZZ NOISE, EXTREME ELECTRONIK MUSIK and BURNOUT PSYCHEDELIA… take note! Euro Import

INDIE LP HUBBLE BUBBLE s/t Radio Heartbeat 14.99 new
Finally re-issued on VINYL!!! Yeah!!(We still have both CD's in stock as well)....HUBBLE BUBBLE were ALIAN "ALAN VON BUR" BUREAU(Guitar/Vo), ROGER "JUNIOR" JOURET(Drums), DANIEL "DEE" MASSART(Bass). they released 2 singles and 2 albums in '78 and '79 from SINUS records. ROGER "JUNIOR" JOURET is New wave pop musician, a.k.a. PLATIC BERTRAND("Ca plane pour moi" = "Jet boy, Jet girl" covered by SONIC YOUTH, CHRON GEN, DAMNED, ELTON MOTELLO, HEADCOATS etc etc....!) . their 1st LP is one of the best European Punk records ever! inc, "Sweet rot", "Look around", "New promotion", "Born a woman", "Pogo pogo" etc! Many songs were included on many Punk rock comps like Killed by death/Bloodstains etc! Some lines from the HUBBLE BUBBLE lyner notes: The resulting production is bizarre aurally imperfect, but matchless in its kind, perfectly illustrating the versatility of the band. The album features a few straightforward Punk hymns like Look Around, as well as the controversial anti-fascist anthem New promotion, which is more mid-tempo, and already indicates the future sound of New Wave. On Little Jeanie Hubble Bubble rub elbows with the then yet to be invented Synth-Punk, while Born A Woman is their bastardization of a Country music classic, transforming it into a Punkhomage to womanhood. There are two more covers on the album. The Ray Davis song I'm Not Like Everybody Else is treated with the obligatory reverence due one of the spiritual fathers of Punk music, while the jerk-off hippie anthem If you're Going To San Francisco is shown no mercy, and suitably slaughtered. Alan's creative approach to guitar playing is perhaps best illustrated on Freaks...Out! for which he insisted I make the solo sound like not other solo ever recorded....In the end Hubble Bubble achieved what they had set out to do: revolutionize the revolution; shake up the Punk music scene, which already had become staid and musically conservative during its brief existence.

LOCAL LP SNAKE APARTMENT Paint The Walls Parts Unknown 9.99 new green marble wax
Snake Apartment let twelve gross inches of ugly, noisy punk slither out of Rhode Island. Heavy scuzz rock drenched in syrup puts on its studio shoes and has a loose night out on the town, sounding like a shelved Am Rep gem just dusted off and released to cumsumers. Heres a small glimmer of hope for middle aged losers who enjoy late Black Flag, Flipper, Brainbombs, Drunks With Guns, God Bullies, and TAD, and neo hipsters and indie label CEOs falling over themselves with glee over bands like Pissed Jeans, Clockcleaner, and Nirvana. Limited to 500 copies, all on green card green vinyl. Get it while the gettins good...

METAL CD WATAIN Sworn to the Dark - No Return Seasons of the Mist 13.99 new
As far as new black metal albums go, I have to say I think this record is top fucking notch with no bullshit. Great sound, good songs, it's well worth repeated listening where most BM records barley make the cut to stand out at all these days. Right on! Ben/Armageddon...
It’s has been four years since Watain released the epic 'Casus Luciferi' which catapulted them into the spotlight! This new offering doesn't disappoint, and shows that Watain are pushing the boundaries of their song writing skills to the limit. This album has a heavier guitar sound with a lot more riffage than on previous releases, but still with the classic blast beating moments. The Dissection influence is apparent, but Watain have a very distinct sound both with the growls of Erik Danielsson and the guitars moving from melodic moments to pure black metal fury in the blink of an eye! The opening track 'Legions of the Black Light' is an almighty opening, which grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go of you until the end! There are some quieter moments such as the end of' 'The Serpent's Chalice' which has one of the most epic outros you could imagine, and 'Dead But Dreaming' which is an instrumental, almost ambient guitar track which then leads straight into the anger driven 'Stellarvore'. With this album Watain have created another masterpiece of the genre, and have once again taken things to a whole new level.

NOISE CD UNICORN / TORSO Split Divorce 10.99 new Bastard Noise side project split with Torso, letterpressed chipboard sleeve
Unicorn is the solo work of American noise veteran Bill Nelson (Bastard Noise, Sleestak). Torso is the blistering noise of Halifax's Sandy Saunders. This 70 + minute split explores minimal drone, deafening power, and all the spaces inbetween. The cover design and custom printing is by Bill's Thumbprint press.

PUNK/HARDCORE CD TOTALITAR Vi Ar Eliten Prank 10.99 new
The long awaited last LP by these Swedish HC veterans. I have to say it's a great record, and the songwriting is great. Every track has some small bit in it that sets it apart from the rest. Killer. Ben/Armageddon...
Playing rampaging D-beat hardcore punk, Totalitar are one of the longest-running and most renowned classic Swedish hardcore bands from the 1980s, with almost twenty releases since their beginnings in 1985. After a series of farewell shows in Sweden and in the U.S. in 2003, Totalitar decided to do one final recording and album - "Vi Ar Eliten" (We Are The Elite), which features 17 tracks, making it a combustive steamroller of their trademark desperate angry vocals, pounding rhythm section and searing guitar leads. The first pressing of the LP comes in a deluxe gatefold jacket.

PUNK/HARDCORE EP WINTERSWIJX CHAOS FRONT s/t Noise and Distortion 6.99 new
Classic reissue of Dutch HC classic. Fullsize poster sleeve, remastered. Awesome job done on this re-issue! Ben/Armageddon
Originally this came out in '85 on 500 copies and was released by the band itself, 20 + years this is a re-release. WCF comes from the same scene as Lärm, Pandemonium and BGK. Raw and fast hardcore. Dutch classic simply put! Buy or die

PUNK/HARDCORE LP EXPLODING HEARTS, THE Guitar Romantic Green Noise 11.99 new
At its best, power pop music is a sublime mix of gorgeous, catchy melodies and raw, driving rock and roll energy. Every song on this album would fit that description! songs like "Modern Kicks", "Thorns in Roses", and "Rumours in Town" are brilliantly cfated Beatle-esque pop songs played with tough, puncy, Mod-tinged energy of early punk. Songs like "I'm a Pretender" and "Sleeping Aides and Raorblades" are supercharged, soulful amphetime-pop blasters on par with anything the Small Faces or early WHO ever recorded. But why single out just a few songs? The truth is that everysong on the record is a hit. Each tune is pop bliss personified. And ultimatly, THAT is what sets the Exploding Hearts ahead of the rest. Having the fine taste to emulate good bands is only part of the equation. The group is great not because it plays a punky brand of power pop, but because it plays it WELL. In the end, it always comes down to great songs. And Guitar Romantics is chock full of great songs..... my only criticism: ten songs are not nearly enough: I NEED MORE!!!
