Six degrees of band separation - anyone have a link?[views:6470][posts:12]_________________________________________ [Aug 16,2007 10:29am - DestroyYouAlot ""] There used to be, several years ago, a "band link machine" thing on the Epitaph Records site. Basically, a huge database of "These guys played on this record by this band, and this guy who also played in this band on another record played in this band, blah blah blah..." Basically, you could enter two band names - ANY two band names, as long as someone had done an entry linking them to the database - and see how they were connected. Like, what the connection between Fugazi and Slayer was (surprisingly short link, BTW). I wish I knew where to find this, now - anyone with some programming skillz feeling ambitious? For that matter, someone figure out the shortest link between Fugazi and Slayer - IIRC, it has something to do with Buckethead. |

_________________________________________ [Aug 16,2007 12:54pm - DestroyYouAlot ""] That's similar if not the same page to what I was talking aboot, yeah. The link this site comes up with is: Minor Threat Complete Discography 1990 Line-up #2 1. Brian Baker Bad Religion The Process Of Belief 2002 2. Greg Hetson White Flag Desperate Teenage Lovedolls 1984 3. Bill Bartell Sawed Off You'll Be Taken Care Of 1993 4. Roger Osborne Fantômas s/t 1999 5. Dave Lombardo Slayer Seasons In The Abyss 1990 But the Epitaph site had a better one. The thing is, Minor Threat links seriously everybody with everybody, because Brian Baker and Lyle Preslar went on to play in just about every '80s hardcore band, ever, at one point or another. Oh, I was totally incorrect about Buckethead - I was thinking of Pailhead, which is Ian MacAye playing with Ministry. Which, of course, leads to LARD (Jello playing with Ministry), and to tons of West Coast bands. |
