the new Shai Hulud record is pretty swell. I really HAVE to be at this, the line up is pretty nice then again I missed the Engineer Rosetta show thanks to out of control gas prices and no money
I actually hate the new hulud, Fucking vocalist sucks. No Heart, and his phrasing is awful. The music is at best decent. They are lacking the emotion and feel they used to have, Sure there are a few parts a can dig. But man what a fucking letdown. I have pretty much loved everything that have done until this. Also, i agree with the request they play "this song for the true and passionate lovers of music"
i agree that there is less of a melodic emotional feel to the music. at the same time though i appreciate the fact that its a little heavier, a little more metal, and a little more technical than what they have done in the past. i think it is by far their worst album but the rest of their albums are among my favorite of all time so its kind of hard to live up. overall id give it a 7/10. with my only negatives being the phrasing of the vocals (not the actual vocals, the scream is good) and the general over production. it seems like they almost "over thought" the album. but i do love it. and i still love hulud more than any other band ever for their music and their message.
Yea believe me, hulud is by far one of my favorite bands still. And the best band in the hardcore title. But the the whole reason i like them i feel is lost in this album. Lyrically and Like you said it was definately over produced. As far as the vocalist, yea his scream is good. But its one scream, he does no spoken word or have any like emotional vocals, they are all mono toned. I think listening to "set your body ablaze" was the realization of how bad he was. Just for the simple fact that, that song is pretty good, and he ruined it. But to give hulud credit, they did up the anty with the music and they are getting older. But I was also dissapointed at some of the breaks they had on there. But i do think that if geert was on it that shit would have been pretty good, probly in my opinion a 7/10. My rating for this album with the new vocalist is a 4.5/10 maybe a 5/10.
