Now that all this recording shit has died down, I've finally gotten around to looking into this again. I just checked out AFS online a little. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. Rob, do you think it'd be worth going to my local police station first and asking them what they think? Or do you think it'd be best to take the course first and learn a bit (concerning handgun laws/licenses mostly). I don't want to show up at the police station and look like an out of control newbie demanding a handgun haha.
Mike, I really wouldn't bother going to the police station first. 9 times out of 10 they'll try to make some excuse in advance, why you should or blah blah blah shouldn't. As a whole, cops (and I ride and am friends with quite few here in the bogs and most of the surrounding towns) they truly don't like the idea of average citizens owning guns. I suggest to just go and take the course, get that done and then go to the police station, fill out the paperwork and see what happens. After the paperwork is done they might call you for an interview, some towns do (brockton being one of them). What town do you live in? Did you move up north yet? Like I said before some towns are stricter with their gun laws.
