drum machines[views:6317][posts:43]___________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:00am - litacore ""] hahaha, OK come out of the closet folks-- what do you use? I'm looking for one that'll last more than a year.:ralphie: |
________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:46am - Joe/NotCommon ""] Ryan from Phantom Limb has one, if you can IM smallbrownratfuck from this site, thats Kevin Limb. He can probably find out for you. Actually tracking down Ry Ry is impossible, he is more elusive then Al Ravage |
___________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:51am - litacore ""] so they're looking for a drummer now right, 'cos they're switching instrumentz? |
________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:52am - Joe/NotCommon ""] they better not be, did they say that somewhere? |
___________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:55am - litacore ""] on craigslist, it's not on there now though maybe they changed their minds |
____________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:56am - SmallBrownRatFuck ""] Well, that's still up in the air. Kamil, the drummer, wants to play guitar (he co-wrote all the songs with Ryan) and has hypothesized us changing formats. We're open to it, but I've expressed concern over the fact that having a live drummer adds to the whole agressive feel. That, and I think Mortician suxxorz. (uh oh, here comes the flames) Lemme ask Ryan and see what kinda artificial drummer we use. |
________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:57am - Joe/NotCommon ""] As the label guy, I vote for Kamil on drums. I don't know if my vote counts though |
___________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 11:59am - litacore ""] I like the current configuration (listen to Joe!) |
____________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:02pm - SmallBrownRatFuck ""] I also like the current config, although we could use another guitarrist. Oh, you know what? I'm still waiting for Ryan to get back to me about the Middle East tonight. If he shows, we can discuss it there. btw, we're also thinking about converting to an ABBA cover band. Well, at least, I proposed it last week. I don't think it went over very well with them. Actually, all I wanna do is play the tambourine and wear bell bottoms. |
___________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:04pm - litacore ""] haha, I'd kill to hear Phantom Limb cover "Mama Mia" or better yet "Fernando" |
____________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:05pm - SmallBrownRatFuck ""] Oh, yeah, and Ryan's drum machine is really sweet. He can code the drum parts on his computer (or something like that) and send it over to the actual machine (or vice versa). Its a damn good system and him and I use it to practice when not with Kamil. I think its a Roland. Ryan loves the Roland. |
________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:06pm - Joe/NotCommon ""] what was Ryan's last name again? |
__________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:30pm - Dreaded_Silence ""] Joe/NotCommon said: Actually tracking down Ry Ry is impossible, he is more elusive then Al Ravage weird...i saw ryan at guitar center on friday..it was nutty! |
________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:31pm - Joe/NotCommon ""] Was he with Al Ravage by any chance? |
__________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:32pm - Dreaded_Silence ""] unfortunately not...but i think they are the same person in different forms...so maybe....... |
________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:36pm - Joe/NotCommon ""] hmm, that is an interesting theory. I bet Al Ravage will have to step out during Phantom Limb's set, and McCracken during Ravage's set. hmmm |
__________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 12:38pm - Dreaded_Silence ""] that is a possibilty my theory is based upon both men's uncontrollable laughter...have you noticed this too? not much talk...very much laugh |

_______________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 1:12pm - Joe/NotCommon ""] i thought the days of double posts were over? aaron?!!? |
__________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 1:18pm - succubus ""] they are..once you click on reply you cannot click on it twice i'm guessing it froze up after he hit reply and then maybe went back and hit reply again? |
_______________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 1:20pm - Joe/NotCommon ""] i think that feature doesnt work on the quick responses |
_________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 1:54pm - Dreaded_Silence ""] i think i clicked stop or something by accident and had to reload the page...my fault! sorry |
__________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 1:58pm - succubus ""] yeah it works on the qik reply too yeah dreaded silence that sounds like it would do that...was it freezing up for you? taking long time after you hit reply? if you find it happens a lot use the non enhanced version, it's faster =) |
______________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 2:08pm - PhantomKamil ""] Don't get all your panties in a bunch. Nothing's still in the air. We decided not to do the drum machine, right KEVIN? If we find another drummer that'll fit, then I might switch to guitar. But I don't see it happening for a while. |
_______________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 2:11pm - DeOdiumMortis ""] Live drums are way more important than a second guitar. This coming from a second guitarist. |
___________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 2:29pm - SmallBrownRatFuck ""] YEAH, we decided not to do the drum machine. (hides in a corner) |
_________________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 2:31pm - Dreaded_Silence ""] succubus said:yeah it works on the qik reply too yeah dreaded silence that sounds like it would do that...was it freezing up for you? taking long time after you hit reply? if you find it happens a lot use the non enhanced version, it's faster =) It wasn't freezing on me, i just clicked the wrong thing by accident. I use the non enhanced version at home because my computer at home sucks, but the regular version works fine up here at school :doublehorns: |
________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 4:28pm - morkul ""] don't get a drum machine they suck. |
______________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 5:36pm - diamond_dave ""] if you want just drums, Boss DR-660. if you want string and piano sounds and all that jazz try the DR-5. it has a 4-track sequencer too. i personally think the 660 is great. it has better drum sounds and you can manipulate them infinitely. i used to play with drum machines before thenightmarecontinues... |
_____________________________________ [Feb 23,2004 6:51pm - infuscation ""] Man, netscrape blows... trying mozilla... let's see if this works... I use a DR660. You can use Cakewalk to store the bulk dumps since the memory on the machine itself pretty much sucks ass (haha, bulk dumps... I keep them all in little jars - right before I EAT THEM!!). If you have a laptop, you can also hook the drum machine up to the computer and use the computer as the actual sequencer. I think there are newer versions... the one with orange buttons... |

___________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 11:45am - litacore ""] OK I'll try the Boss DR-670. I want to be able to save whole songs. I hope it isn't a piece of shit like their tuners are [img] |
___________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 11:57am - Kalopsia ""] hey i have a boss pedal tuner and it works great. boss is a good product (unlike digitech with the exception of their GNX series) |
________________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 11:59am - Joe/NotCommon ""] Does anyone know someone with the name Leroy? |
___________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 12:01pm - litacore ""] what this one? [img] |

____________________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 12:23pm - SmallBrownRatFuck ""] Leroy Brown? Isn't he THE MASTER? I hear he's got The Glow... I certainly think that he could be The Last Dragon. |
_____________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 12:30pm - handinjury ""] i second the BOSS DR-660, i have 2 of them. but the memory gets eatin up very quickly. |
__________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 1:02pm - litacore ""] does it let you delete old stuff? |
____________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 3:49pm - handinjury ""] yes. |
__________________________________ [Feb 25,2004 3:57pm - litacore ""] OK good I was afraid I'd be stuck with the same 100 songs |
