So here is the deal. I went MIA for a bit because I was homeless, foodless, and flat out fucking cold. I blew every last penny of my savings on gear to film the festival. I also lost quite a bit of cash in deposits on gear I couldn't get. In all I am about 4500-5000 dollars deep into this project (matrox editing gear, VX2100, lenses, Shotgun mic, and thats not including the 800 I lost in non refundable deposits). I set out a goal to break even on this which I soon realized is NOT going to happen. I don't care about that, all I really care about is getting it out there for all the bands, and everyone involved, and interested to see, and enjoy. So here is what I was thinking. The main hold up now is the loss of my editing computer. When I lost my house some family drama happened and my computer went MIA. So I am searching tons of classifieds for a decent priced editing machine. I found a great deal on a Mac. I can pick it up with a 20" mac cinema display, and a sweet lacie Blue 2 color corrector (which will definitely help the color fixing of the footage) for $950.00 locally. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in pooling together to pick up the machine so I can get the editing done. That being said I am NOT looking for a hand out. I have a MINT 88 GT pro Freestyle Tour (bmx bike) in mint shape. Them are generally going for 600-1200 depending on how long you want to sit on it. I also have a 700 dollar 1/8th scale gas powered RC buggy. I am trying to sell both of them to fund the computer. If we all pitch in there are a couple options here. 1, I sell my stuff and give you your cash back. 2, Donate 20 bucks (which should be the sale price for one dvd) and it will be a pre order for TWO DVD's. 3, you guys are super and just want to get me the machine... but thats not what I want, I'd feel scummy. If I can pick up this machine I can have the editing done in a few weeks time and get it off to pressing. That means in a month or so it can be in your hands. If no one wants to help (which I don't mind) we will have to wait until I go back to work to get the DVD done. I am not going back to work until mid to late may (doing side work now and barely living off of it), so I probably won't have the DVD ready until NEDF 09. So what do you guys think? Band together and get the DVD out asap, or wait until NEDF 09 for it? Either way doesn't bother me, but I would LIKE to see it out sooner instead of later.
