ATTN: People in bands that have toured[views:7770][posts:33]_________________________________ [Aug 9,2009 3:45pm - Archaeon ""] What'd you guys do for a van if you didn't already own one/couldn't buy o ne? No way I could afford to purchase a van and all the rates from regular car rental places are absolutely retarded. |
____________________________ [Aug 9,2009 3:53pm - ZJD ""] there's some site where you can rent veggie oil powered vans. you can used oil from greasy restaurants and tour for no gas money, but you'll need to find the site yourself because that's all i've got. |
____________________________ [Aug 9,2009 3:53pm - ZJD ""] or you borrow a van |

We got our club wagon with 55,000 miles for around $2,600. Even if they don't have any vans at the moment, the dudes cool and will call you if they get anything in if you ask him. Plus if you work some jewish magic you can probably get the price even lower. Definitely worth checking out. |

__________________________________ [Aug 10,2009 12:03am - W3 nli ""] when TS did do small tours we rented a van but back in 06 it wasn't nearly as retardedly as overpriced as it is right now to rent one. |
_____________________________________ [Aug 10,2009 12:53am - PatMeebles ""] We had deals with a certain car rental company through an unnamed connection. |
_______________________________________ [Aug 10,2009 2:38am - tramplethweak ""] i looked into the green vans thing and for a fifteen day tour the price was $150 per day, that did include a full tank of veggie oil and a spare tank in the trailer |
_________________________________________________ [Aug 10,2009 5:14am - the_taste_of_cigarettes ""] All joking aside, Alex and I built a box the size of a honda accord and put it on top of a honda accord and put all our equipment in that. There's pictures somewhere on here.s |

He's located in Milford now, I worked for him for a few months because he needed the help and I needed a job. He's definitely fair with everything. As for Grant...The Summoned and DBB just finished up our tour, and we did it in a Toyota Tundra and Nissan Pathfinder. We towed a trailer with the tundra. |

Psytoxia roofbagged it our first trek out to Milwaukee and back 2 years ago. 4 guys crammed into a 2 door chevy cavalier or whatever it was. Our latest tour with Splitter we had a nissan pathfinder with a roofbag and a minivan with one of those hard shell carriers on top. Was wayyy more comfortable. |
_________________________________________________ [Aug 11,2009 6:02am - the_taste_of_cigarettes ""] That tells me nothing about the roofbag and only that having a bigger car and an more storage is more comfortable. How is the bag itself? |
___________________________________ [Aug 11,2009 12:01pm - grizloch ""] bag was tits, its essentially a big backpack for your car, it's good for non-instrument stuff if you are traveling light, we had 2 guitars, a head, cymbals, some hardware and our distro in the trunk and our merch, shenanigans, and personal shit in the roofbag, all in all it was way cheaper than a hard cartop carrier and it worked on a (tiny) car without a rack |

How is the bag itself? yeah griz pretty much summed it up. the thing is heavy duty though. Really really thick material. A massive zipper. The straps are a little confusing to get it tied down correctly. After a day or so of having to unhook and rehook it we would just start putting it in crazy knots or whatever we could do to get it tied down. Never had an issue with it shifting or really moving at all. 'Twas a good purchase. |
