Back in the day they would spend months talking about the ramifications for a bill before voting on it. I'd like it if the government, instead of using money for failed proposals, gave each American a million dollars (a meager, when measured against our current bailouts, 308 or so million dollars) and see what kind of crazy shit people come up with. Sure, it might make the dollar worth close to nothing, but most of our shit comes from other countries anyways, so maybe we could just tip a giant balance and become the country with the highest standard of living, ever. Or it'll be like that Chappelle's Show skit where the reparations are given out and crazy shit happens. Either way, I'm into it, and think it'd be fun and hilarious, instead of the current headache we've lived with for the past few years. |

I really like the sneaky extension of unemployment benefits... Also, does this logic of mine make sense. The government is going to give small buisnesses up to 250,000 to write off investments. Doesn't that mean people are going to make realllllly bad investments because hey, it's not their money. Kinda like when the fed cuts rates and people make terrible decisions that seem good now, but not when the chickens come home to roost. |

THIS......when they first started talking about the 700 billion or 3 trillion or 300 billion or whatever amounts all those bailouts were for, this is exactly what i thought. It doesnt even have to be a million. Give everyone a hundred thousand dollars, tax free. The rich won't mind, its a little extra cash for them that wont change their tax bracket, but the poor and the middle class......it would wipe out almost all debt. The recession would not have happened. The problem would be people currently on welfare going out and buying new cars with the money, but there would just have to be limits on how it could be spent. |
