I'm noticing they also usually make it so you can't open exe's sometimes too. I usually use other tools or boot into safe mode, go in under another local profile (not hoses by the exe disassociation), kill all running processes, run malwarebytes (after renaming the executable to something else). You can also update malwarebytes from another machine and copy over the rules.ref file if you're having trouble updating. To fix the exe horseshit you can google for "exefix". You'll stumble across a reg or com file that makes your computer happy again.
