It can be difficult, but it's great. You have to take it slow, if you go running into areas blindly you'll be killed quickly and repeatedly. You will not be able to "level up" or improve until you beat the first area's boss. If you die, you need to run the whole level again, but in most areas there are shortcuts you can open up- sometimes obvious, sometimes not. The rings I used the most were Thiefs Ring (which lets you get closer to monsters without them seeing you) and Cling Ring (which grants you 75% health instead of 50% in soul form). Both of these can be found in the first level. Thiefs ring is tricky to find, it's on a ledge with a friendly dude, you must hop over a railing to get to him. Don't worry about being in soul form, you'll be that way for most of the game. Don't be overburdened. Mobility is fairly crucial in this game. Once you beat the first level, five more open up and you can choose where to go from there. If an area seems too tough, try coming back to it later. Plenty of more tips I could give, but one more spoiler tip- kill Yurt when you meet him (I think that's his name, he has a big helmet that looks like a tuning fork). If you don't, he will start killing everyone in the Nexus, your home base, including all the vendors and trainers. That's bad.
