I'm not saying they "suck" or anything. I, personally, just have a hard time getting into slower, doom-style metal. I've only recently started getting into "sludge" style metal. Even then, it's only a few bands I can dig, and don't like most of the bands people worship in that genre. I'll try ND again(it's been quite a few years since I last listened to/saw them). I'm more of black or death metal fan. |
| ___________________________________ [May 18,2011 4:11pm - dreadkill ""] pires, the last few novembers doom albums have a lot more mid-paced/faster songs than the older stuff, so you might like them better now. this might sound like a horrible description, but some of the songs remind me of nevermore mixed with opeth. neither band is an influence on novembers doom but its the best comparison i can come up with. |

I hear lots of edge of sanity in there, as well as maybe a melodic version of bolt thrower perhaps? Def some Opethian chords. his clean voice is getting better too. they have a video for the new record, but its pretty mellow but has the singer of the Gathering on it, pretty sweet. They often tell their fans, that they arent a "doom" band, but a death metal band |

When SOB was on tour in 06, they all left rehearsal early and drove an hour to come support us, even all bought merch even though we insisted they get it for free. Stand up guys, great musicians too.
