If this is Earth, then between the opening scene and the rest of the film many thousands or even millions of years have passed. It is not so strange to think the intentions and manner of the Engineers may have changed in that span of time. Note the Alien is left behind, and dressed differently than the other Engineers we've seen. Despite coming from a space ship, he seems very simply dressed - perhaps the trepidation and surprise is due to him being a slave, forced to do this task? [/QUOTE]
