What's a good not too pricey turntable?[views:5724][posts:16]_______________________________________________ [Mar 25,2012 9:18pm - illinoisenemaBradness ""] I have shit luck. Since I moved here I've had 2 record players die. One was an 80$ shitbox from ShopKo(like Caldors/Lechmere) that the motor mount collapsed into itself and the other was my original one from years ago. Anyways I want something decent, that you can still get needles for, that won't speed up and slow down while playing. Ya know, something REAL |

____________________________________ [Mar 26,2012 11:01am - arktouros ""] i picked up a technics/pioneer from the 80's in perfect condition for $50 from my coworker who has 2 garages full of old hifi and radio stuff. p-mount standard needles, belt drive, it's niiice. these were some of the best ever made. |
_______________________________________ [Mar 26,2012 11:17am - the_reverend ""] belt drive < direct drive |
_______________________________________________ [Mar 26,2012 1:16pm - illinoisenemaBradness ""] hrm. Maybe a used pawn shop item. I know direct drive is better, it's more cash though. Thanks |

______________________________________ [Mar 26,2012 1:53pm - the_reverend ""] I suggest the numark, but the gemini is decent too. |
_______________________________________________ [Mar 26,2012 1:55pm - illinoisenemaBradness ""] I had one of the USB kind, I thought it sounded like garbage. I think it was a Gemini, I don't remember though. |
______________________________________ [Mar 26,2012 2:00pm - the_reverend ""] geminis are knock offs of technics. |
____________________________ [Mar 26,2012 7:59pm - Uh ""] This is what I have or close enough. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT-PL...irect-Drive-Turntable/dp/B00012EYNG The design is based off the Technics 1200 without spending a million dollars. It's heavy and seems well built. Has a built in pre-amp which is useful if your receiver doesn't have a phono jack, but I wouldn't recommend using it... doesn't sound that great. USB is a useless feature, since you can always just plug the RCA into your sound card or mic-in jack with the adapter that comes with it or that is like $2. |
