MarkFuckingRichards said:anonymous said:I voted no. Do we really need more drunken drivers out on the streets killing people. If you wanna drink and get WASTED go for it. And if you wanna drive after, then you should just go right ahead and drive your car into a tree instead of killing innocent people!! Alcohol is sold in liquor stores and FOOD is sold in grocery stores. Alcohol has no nutrional value to it. Its sad when some people think it IS food

it's good that you voted no, but for the wrong reasons, as some already stated. i am a small business owner, so obviously no is my vote.

and also, there actually is nutritional value in some alcoholic products. the problem is that in general, the US gluttonizes everything. if you go almost anywhere in europe, you can find young adults hardly legal at all, even younger children, with a glass of wine at a meal. not because they want to get wasted, just because there are less sulfides in their wine and therefore doesn't really get anyone drunk unless you drink a whole shitload. a glass of wine a day in most places in europe is kind of like the whole "an apple a day will keep the doctor away" saying in the US. since wine, beer and liquors are a large part of many european cultures, they are used to not having it excess (most of the time). obviously there will always be exceptions to the rule. some nutritional value can still be found in alcoholic beverages here in the US, but needs to be taken in with much more moderation.

it would be wonderful if that sort of culture was present here in the US, but if we ever made any attempt, there would probably be a heap of trouble coming our way for years, but probably would even out eventually. still not a good idea

i agree with this statement in europe it is considered wrong and disrespectful to be drunk in public people do it cause one glass is socially acceptable although i'm edge i agree with what you have said i just choose not to drink....

I like it when they cripple people for smoking cloves and are doused in pig's blood in retaliation.

that's not very peaceful or harmonious, but people who smoke cloves deserve to be crippled.

:swedenflag:

Well... almost anyway. You can still get a nice little warning if the cops see you standing around with a bottle of vodka in your hand, but usually they don't give a shit if you're drinking your mind back to infancy.

The fact that there will be more drunk drivers on the road is complete bullshit. The same assholes are going to drink and drive, where they got their alcohol is neither here nor there.
The fact that there will be more under-age kids getting alcohol is bullshit. The same douche-bags are going to be buying the same booze for th same kids. The only difference would be if said douche lives next to Shaw's.
All of this "No on 1" ridiculousness is just that. The main fore-runners backing the "no" policy are fucking liquor store owners worrying about supermarkets infringing upon their business. Fuck that capitalist, monopolistic attitude. You know what, fuck everything. This rain is making me grumpy.

That's all true, but in five years when stop and shop wants to sell liquor and beer as well, it will hurt the little guy.

Personally, I would rather both these places sell than bars.

bars are where all the drunk driving comes from.

yeah but I think it's worse that you would rather support a big international business like Shaw's rather than the dudes at Clocktown. small business owners are always uptight about money, doesn't mean they're filthy stinking rich!
