Step one, hunt and shoot partridge (with dogs, of course).

Step two, find killer recipe.
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/northern-onta...partridge-ruffed-grouse/detail.aspx

Step three, prepare.

Step four, skarf mightily.

Alot of cooking/dishes for a Monday night, but damn this came out great. Also have leftovers for tonight. I even managed to pull off the gravy, I usually fuck up gravy and sauce.

This is a real show on the bbc in australia, they go through the whole process from when the animal is killed like they did hear. I loved the show and then the audience would eat the dead animals. From the time they either stunned or sliced the animals to the abattoir and then the oven and to the dinner plate. Great show. It must be on you tube. I approve of this link!! :2Horns:

Good show idea. I think that if you are a meat-eater, you should be willing to kill anything you're willing to eat. If not, go vegetarian. Personally, I'll kill just about anything that is edible.

Yeah, duck/goose opened earlier this week. I'm sure the guys are out on the river this morning, especially after 2 mornings of frost. That will definitely get the migrating birds moving good.

NH coastal waterfowling is waaaaay better than central NH waterfowling. We just don't have enough migrating birds stopping in this neck of the woods.

Yesterday's hunt, 1 grouse (sorry, "pahtridge") and 3 woodcock (limit):

I was by myself, some deer hunters took the picture for me. Sorry, this one does have my ugly mug. Ticks were HORRIBLE, never seen anything like it. Must have picked 25 to 30 ticks off of each dog, then had to give them a bath.

Freezer is getting stocked -- will have to make a feast soon...

OK, here we go with another delicious installment: Woodcock Poppers.

1. Thaw frozen breasts and soak in milk for 4 to 5 hours. Woodcock are strong-tasting, the milk helps with that and removes some blood.

2. Remove from milk and place in marinade -- red wine, worcestershire, minced garlic, salt and white pepper. Marinate overnight.

3. Pound breasts flat and place on a strip of bacon.

4. Spread cream cheese on breast and place a slice of jalapeno on that. Roll them up in the bacon and secure with toothpick -- looks like this when they're prepped:

5. Either broil or grill. I opted for grilling, but had to switch to indirect heat due to flare-ups (would help if I gave the grill a good cleaning, but fuck that)

6. Remove when bacon is just about crisped and skarf mightily.

These things were delicious. I would actually cook them a little less next time, but it didn't matter, they were still awesome.

Though these fish were released instead of eaten, I will still share. Quick local solo mission on Saturday afternoon yielded 4 largemouth and 2 smallmouth (those are bass for those not in the know). They were in a prespawn pattern, so I pounded a rocky, windy shoreline with the spinnerbait pictured.

good you let these babies go. I think the biggest fresh water bass I ever caught was about 6 lbs. though where I fished the inability of little kids to safely remove hooks from mouths/gills dropped the average size of the fish we caught to under a pound.

I don't keep freshwater bass, they're more fun to fight than to eat.I think my biggest largemouth was about 7+. I didn't have a scale, but I did have witnesses before I released it.

I usually fish catch & release for bass, but this one got throat-hooked and was doing the float of death:

Not being the wasteful sort, he went into the "deathwell" and was my dinner Monday night. Fillet, dredge in flour/cornstarch, dip in egg, dredge in flour/cornstarch again, pan fry, and fish sammiches for dinner:

Since the board sucks now, I figure it's time to post some more pictures of dead shit and outdoors stuff.

Opening day (Oct 1st) afternoon solo mission -- 2 pheasant, 2 woodcock in 2 hours.

Nothing died this trip, just a boat ride on the CT River to scout for ducks.

Yesterday, solo mission just above the Notch. Shot these 2 partridge as a report double (1 flushed, I shot him, the other flushed on the shot, I shot him too). Also walked about 5 miles and the only signs of life was 1 dude walking into a cut.

The cooking/eating will be coming soon. I have buddies coming up to help me with yardwork this weekend and my freezer is full of BRIDS that need to be eaten.
